Backup Document 01/11/2022 Item # 4B PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, all men, women and children residing in the United States of America, both U.S. and foreign born, have the right to individual freedom; and WHEREAS, human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery in which individuals experience forced labor, including but not limited to sexual exploitation by traffickers; and WHEREAS, second only to the illegal drug trade, human trafficking is among the most lucrative crimes worldwide and Florida has been documented as one of the largest hubs for U.S. human trafficking; and WHEREAS, the United States Congress passed a resolution declaring that January be recognized as the national month of Human Trafficking Awareness; NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that January 2022 be designated as HUMAN TRAFFICKING AWARENESS MONTH IN COLLIER COUNTY DONE AND ORDERED THIS 11th Day of January 2022.
