Agenda 12/14/2021 Item #16A28 (Derelict Vessel Removal Grant Application to FFWC)12/14/2021 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to approve the submittal of a Derelict Vessel Removal grant application to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission for the removal of ten (10) derelict vessels from Collier County waterways in the amount of $160,260.00 and authorize the Chairman to execute the grant application. OBJECTIVE: To obtain approval from the Collier County Board of County Commissioners (Board) to submit a Derelict Vessel Removal grant application to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) to fund the removal of ten (10) derelict vessels from Collier County waterways. CONSIDERATION: The FWC provides grants through the Derelict Vessel Removal Program to assist local governments in removing derelict vessels that put public safety and the health of the County's marine and surrounding waters at risk and are listed on the Statewide At -Risk and Derelict Vessel Database. The removal of three identified beached vessels below are located within the Collier County Coastal System situated along the waters and shoreline of Marco Island, Goodland, Everglades City, Factory Bay, Naples Bay, Henderson Creek, Cocohatchee River and the Barron River. FWC's Derelict Vessel Grant Guidelines allows for the receipt of these grant applications on a continuing basis as long as funding is available. • 42' Halberg Rassy Germain Sailboat located at Big Marco Pass • 41' Catalina Sailboat located in Factory Bay • 26' Bristol Sailboat located in Naples Bay • 32' Genmar Cabin Yacht located in Goodland Bay • 29' Person Yacht wrecked outside of Goodland Marina • 27' Catalina Sailboat located near the Everglades City Fire Dock • 23' Wellcraft sunk in Henderson Creek • 16' UNKNOWN vessel located in the Cocohatchee River • 41' Morgan wrecked in the Barron River • 43' Nautalin Houseboat wrecked in the Barron River FISCAL IMPACT: Total cost of the project is estimated to be $160,260.00. Should the grant be awarded, Collier County will receive FWC funding in the amount of $160,260.00. FWC will pay 100% reimbursement for all eligible vessels. There is no match requirement. GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no impact to the growth management plan related to this action.
