I’m a homeowner two residential lot’s north of the proposed CU for a church at the corner of 8th. St.
N.E. and 22nd Ave. N.E..
I strongly oppose an amendment to the zoning of our street. For obvious reasons since this street
has been widened and a bridge installed creating a lot of cut through traffic to Randal blvd If this is
allowed it will increase the traffic even more .
Not to mention opening the door for more applications for CU’s . This is a very nice neighborhood
and we want to keep it a residential neighborhood . I have communicated with you in the past while
the work was being done on 8th. St. N.E. and you were helpful I’m hoping you can head this off also.

I have been a resident of 22nd Avenue off 8th Street for over 15 years and have
become aware of the church proposed for the parcels on the NW corner of 8th
Street and 22nd Avenue. I urge you to not approve the conditional use and growth
management plan amendment. The 8th Street community is a quiet residential
area that cannot sustain the increased traffic this would cause. Every evening I
ride my bike, along with other community members, and this would
negatively impact all of us. Every morning as I head into work I fear the
intersection of 8th Street and Randall because it has become increasingly
dangerous due to increased traffic in the Estates. Again, I urge you to deny the
CU and GMPA.

years. It has recently come to my attention that there is potentially going to be a church built
on the corner of 22nd Ave NE and 8th St NE. Let me be clear, I have no objection to places of
worship. I do however have concerns with placing one on the corner of a
residential neighborhood which has already seen a large increase in traffic since the 8th St.
expansion 2 years ago. The volume of vehicles that already travel our street daily is quite
impressive. With that volume comes speeders, increased number of motor vehicle accidents,
and quite frankly increases the odds of potential danger to pedestrians. Our street is unique as
we are the only street in the Estates with a sidewalk, which we take great pride in. Families
walk, ride bikes, socialize, and utilize the walkway daily. Adding a church would certainly
cause an increase in commuters, exacerbating what is already a heavily trafficked
neighborhood. This raises a number of concerns regarding safety, commuting time, and my
next item: our privacy.
I am writing to you formally objecting the construction of the church. Not only due to traffic
concerns, but also due to the destruction of our beloved wooded home. The residents of the
Estates move here for quiet and the peaceful esthetics. With an already increasing number of
homes on 8th St. NE, the clearing of another lot for a church and its parking lot would be a
terrible eye sore.
Again, I ask you please consider denying the construction of a commercial structure on my
residential neighborhood street. I feel it is completely inappropriate to place a church or any

I have been a resident off 8th Street off Randall for 5+ years and have become aware of the

I am writing regarding the Proposed Zoning Amendment for 8th St NE which will allow
a church in a residential area. This is a bad idea as it will cause significant traffic
issues for the residents in that area, not to mention setting a precedent for
commercial zoning changes in clearly residential areas. A better location for this
church would be on some busy area that is zoned for commercial use already.
I am sure you understand the issue and the potential hazards that it would present if
allowed to pass. I appreciate all that you do for the residents of Golden Gate Estates.
