EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize Ryan Dawson, Public Utilities Department, Facilities Management
as the July 2021 Employee of the Month.
OBJECTIVE: To recognize the efforts and accomplishments of an employee who has made significant
contributions to the organization and to our community.
CONSIDERATIONS: Ryan is a Master Tradesworker in the Facilities Management Division in Public
Utilities and has been with the County since 2016.
Ryan and just one other employee are responsible to complete roughly 1,700 work orders a year,
maintaining and repairing the Collier County fire systems. He is instrumental to the success of the
maintenance and project management sections every day by coordinating repairs with vendors and fire
inspectors to pass required life safety inspections in accordance with the National Fire Protection
Association code. This work ensures that the County facilities are not only code compliant, but safe for
everyone.
On Good Friday, a General Contractor notified our Facilities Management Project Management team that
they needed assistance working on the sprinkler system in the Jail kitchen later that day. Ryan started
work at 5:00 am that morning, but still agreed to assist when called upon to see if he was able to stay late
to drain the system that evening. He got the system ready, stayed until past 8:00 pm for the contractor to
arrive, and remained on site until the work was completed. Once the installation was finished, he made
sure everything was in proper working order before calling it a day, finally leaving around 2:00 am. This
is one of the many examples that highlight Ryan’s dedication to the Facilities Management team and the
County.
Ryan’s work ethic, positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to always make himself available is
commendable and does not go unnoticed. He performs his duties with the utmost professionalism, always
with the customer's well-being and the County’s best interest in mind. He is always “there for us”, with a
smile on his face, even if this means sacrificing personal time. We are lucky to have Ryan as a member
of our team and a member of our community.
FISCAL IMPACT: The selected “Employee of the Month” receives a $150.00 cash award. Funds for
this are available in the employee’s budget cost center.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There are no Growth Management Impacts associated with
this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board recognize Ryan Dawson, Public Utilities Department, Facilities
Management as the July 2021 Employee of the Month.
