EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize a budget amendment in the amount of $600,000 to fund emergency
repairs within the Public Utilities Department’s Wastewater Division.
OBJECTIVE: To fund year-to-date emergency repair costs and provide emergency repair funding in the
Wastewater Field Operations budget through the end of FY21.
CONSIDERATIONS: In FY21, the Public Utilities Department Wastewater Field Operations budgeted
$400,000 for emergency repairs based upon historical usage. Year -to-date emergency repair expenses
incurred total $1.55 million. Through previous board approved and administrative budget amendments,
the emergency repair budget has already been increased to $1.15 million. Additional funding is needed to
cover already incurred and potential future repair costs for critical infrastructure assets for the remainder
of the fiscal year.

FISCAL IMPACT: Funds in the amount of $600,000 will be reallocated from savings in other areas of
operating expense within the existing Fund (408) Collier County Water-Sewer District operating budget
to offset the extraordinary increase in emergency repair expenses.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no legal
issues and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There are no Growth Management impacts associated with
this action.
RECOMMENDATION: To authorize a budget amendment in the amount of $600,000 to fund year-to-
date emergency repair costs and provide emergency repair funding in the Wastewater Field Operations
budget through the end of FY21.
