A RESOLUTION OF THE COLLIER COUNTY BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AUTHORIZING THE PROPER
OFFICERS, OFFICIALS AND REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
COUNTY TO APPLY FOR A SPECIAL CATEGORY GRANT IN
THE AMOUNT OF FIVE HUNDRED TWENTY TWO THOUSAND
NINE HUNDRED FIFTY TWO ($522,952) DOLLARS, FROM THE
FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF STATE, DIVISION OF
HISTORICAL RESOURCES; AUTHORIZING THE USE OF THE
GRANT FUNDS TO RESTORE AND INTERPRET THE
MARGOOD COTTAGES TO SUPPORT THEIR USE AS A
CULTURAL FACILITY; COMMITTING TWO HUNDRED SIXTY
ONE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED SEVENTY SIX ($261,476)
DOLLARS OF THE FUND 306 PARKS CAPITAL PROJECTS
RESERVES TO COMPLY WITH THE CASH MATCH
REQUIREMENT OF THE GRANT; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners has been
advised that the Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources, is offering
Special Category Grants to units of government; and,
WHEREAS, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners acquired the
property known as "Margood Cottages" to preserve this significant historical site and to
develop the historic Margood Cottages into a cultural facility focused on the Pre-
Columbian,pioneer, and early tourism history of the Marco Island area; and,
WHEREAS, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners is proposing
the stabilization and rehabilitation of the Margood Cottages to support the continued
interpretive use with the available grant funding; and,
WHEREAS, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners is willing to
commit from the Parks Capital Projects Reserves Fund 306 the required cash "match" in
the amount of two hundred sixty-one thousand four hundred seventy-six ($261,476)
Dollars for the proposed grant request; and,
WHEREAS, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners has determined
that it is in the best interests of the County and its citizens to apply for Special Category
Grant support.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY,FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: That the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County hereby authorizes
the proper officers, officials and representatives of the County to execute all documents

necessary to apply for a Special Category Grant in the amount of Five Hundred Twenty
Two Thousand nine Hundred Fifty Two ($522,952) Dollars from the Florida Department
of State, Division of Historical Resources.
Section 2: That the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County hereby
acknowledges and agrees that it will use the requested grant funds for the restoration and
interpretation of the Mar-Good Cottages to support the intended cultural museum use for
the enjoyment of the public.
Section 3: That the Collier County Board of County Commissioners hereby
acknowledges that it will commit a required "match" no less than 50% of the grant
request amount including Two Hundred Sixty-One Thousand Four Hundred Seventy Six
($261,476) Dollars from Parks Capital Projects Reserves Fund 306 during the grant
period beginning after July 1, 2022 and ending on June 30, 2024 to fulfill the match
requirements of the grant.
Section 4: Effective Date. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption
by the Collier County Board of County Commissioners.
This Resolution is hereby adopted after motion, second and majority vote this
22nd day of June 2021
