Agenda 06/22/2021 Item #16D11 (Budget Amendment - CAT Bus Stop on Triangle Boulevard)06/22/2021
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve a Budget Amendment in the amount of $33,260 to appropriate funds
to relocate a Collier Area Transit Bus Stop on Triangle Boulevard.
OBJECTIVE: To appropriate funds for the relocation of a bus stop.
CONSIDERATIONS: On March 6, 2019 (Agenda Item #8A1), the Surtax Citizens Committee validated
the Triangle Boulevard Transportation Operational Improvements project and approved surtax funding in
the amount of $6,000,000. On February 23, 2021 (Agenda Item #11I), the Board of County
Commissioners (Board) awarded a bid for operational improvements to Triangle Boulevard to Cougar
Contracting, LLC, in the amount of $3,395,000. As a result of the planned construction, a Collier Area
Transit (CAT) bus stop requires relocation and the associated bus shelter must be replaced. The bus
shelter replacement was not included in the construction plans and therefore, was not included in the
construction contractor’s approved contract.
In order to facilitate the shelter replacement, the Public Transit and Neighborhood Enhancement (PTNE)
Division has solicited quotes for the construction and installation of the new bus shelter using Bid #19-
7646. The lowest quote received was from the vendor Capital Contractor in the amount of $21,500. PTNE
will also need to purchase the shelter and necessary amenities using the annual bus shelter bid #20 -7731,
in the amount of $11,760. There is sufficient funding for the shelter replacement project in the validated
Infrastructure Sales Tax fund.
An easement, in an alternate location, was obtained for the placement of the new shelter. Once the funds
have been allocated for the project, PTNE will let the project for the shelter relocation.
FISCAL IMPACT: A Budget Amendment is necessary to reallocate funding in the amount of $33,260
within the Infrastructure Sales Tax Fund (318) from Reserves to the Triangle Blvd project 60215.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: This project is in accordance with the goals and objectives of
the Transportation Element of the Growth Management Plan.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no legal
issues, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
RECOMMENDATION: To authorize a budget amendment in the amount of $33,260 necessary to
recognize and appropriate funds for the construction of the bus shelter at the new location.
