EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to accept the COVID-19 Status Report and provide further direction as
appropriate.
OBJECTIVE: To keep the Board of County Commissioners (Board) and the public informed regarding
the current status of the COVID-19 pandemic and County government's response and planning efforts.
CONSIDERATIONS: On March 9, 2020, Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency across
the State of Florida in response to the rapid international and domestic spread of the COVID-19
pandemic.
The Governor subsequently issued a series of executive orders restricting social and business gatherings
consistent with guidance from the federal Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Also, the State began
ramping up testing capacity in an effort to test all suspected cases of the disease in Florida and begin
treating and isolating those who test positive for the virus.
This Agenda Item is the recurring monthly update from the local Department of Health and County staff
regarding local efforts to contain the spread of the virus in Collier County, restore County services, and
facilitate the Governor's Executive Order with respect to the phased reopening of the local economy.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no Fiscal Impact.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This Item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no legal
issues at this time, and requires majority support for action. -JAK
RECOMMENDATION: To accept the COVID-19 Status Report and provide further direction as
appropriate.

•Close contact and outbreak related testing is available throughout the week
•Te sting is also readily accessible in the community at urgent care centers,
