Agenda 05/11/2021 Item #11B (Report - 2021 Legislative Session)05/11/2021
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to accept the after-action report for the 2021 Florida legislative session
and provide guidance as preliminary planning begins for the next legislative cycle.
______________________________________________________________________________
OBJECTIVE: To pursue and report on the Board’s State and Federal Legislative and
Administrative Priorities in Tallahassee and Washington, D.C.
CONSIDERATION: Each year, prior to the convening of the State Legislature, staff prepares a
proposed list of State and Federal Legislative and Administrative Priorities for the upcoming
year for consideration and subsequent endorsement by the Board. The Priorities document sets
the policy and appropriations goals for the lobbying team and provides guidance in monitoring,
supporting, or opposing legislation, as applicable.
The Legislature recently adjourned, sine die, on April 30, 2021. By their adjournment, the
Governor will now have 15 consecutive days from the presentment of a particular bill to his desk
to sign the legislation into law, veto it, or to allow the bill to become law without his signature.
Given this recent adjournment and to allow as much time as practical for any gubernatorial
vetoes prior to the May 11 Board meeting, a slide presentation will be provided to the Board and
attached for the record at that time.
FISCAL IMPACT: This executive summary has no immediate fiscal impact.
