Honorable County Commissioners:
As a resident of Ave Maria for the past three years, I've heard numerous
presentations regarding the "soon" to be built Fire Station here at Ave Maria. So far
however, nothing seems to be moving. The Immokalee Fire Department says they
have the funds and are ready to move forward but there appears to be a Collier
County bureaucratic issue standing in the way.
I respectfully request that each of you do what you can to get the Ave Maria Fire
Station to become a reality as soon as possible. The Ave Maria community is rapidly
expanding and the need for a local fire station is becoming a real necessity,
especially in light of the recent County wildfires.
I urge all of you to act.

The current Covid-19 situation has brought to my mind the advantage of having a
hospital here in Ave Maria. In that regard, if at all possible, please see if there is
anything you can do to move the process forward. I am under the impression there is
an impasse between Dr. Braden and Baron Collier.
Although the Braden Hospital won't help under the current health emergency, having
it built as soon as possible will help with the next health emergency.
Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated by all the residents of Ave Maria.

Dear Jeanne: Thanks so much for assisting me in obtaining Nick Casalanguida as our guest
speaker with his power point presentation on Collier County Road upgrades, especially as it
relates to Ave Maria, for Thursday night, April 6th at 7PM. Our presentation will be held at
5076 Annunciation Circle in downtown Ave Maria at the Master Association office's
Community Room. Their phone number, if needed, is: 239-867-4322. Our host is our
General Manager, Luisa Rosales.
Easy driving directions would be: proceed east on Oilwell Road to Ave Maria Blvd. Turn left
onto Ave Maria Blvd and proceed north to downtown Ave Maria. Make the first right turn
onto Annunciation Circle and proceed to the first street on the right. Their offices are actually
two doors sooner, or before the approach to that cross street, which is also across from the
Oratory Church, and also across the intersection from Tropical Smoothy. Nick can park either
in front of the office, if available, right around the corner onto that cross street, or just behind
the buildings in the ample parking lots.
We are pleased to have Nick make the same presentation he gave that our friend and County
Commissioner Bill McDaniel raved about -- that occurred just a couple of weeks ago in
Golden Gate Estates. Our people of Ave Maria feel hemmed in by three poorly
developed/inadequate local roads (US 29 towards I-75, Oilwell Road, and DeSoto/Golden
Gates Blvds), burgeoning population growth (especially with the coming of Rural Lands
West), and no present alternatives to the already 45 minute drive to doctors, shopping, and the
NCH hospital. We are excited to hear how much better life bodes for us through information
we can gather from Nick's presentation. We are anticipating a packed house for Nick's "hot
topic" presentation!
Thanks again for your involvement to expedite this event. Please let me know if there is
anything I can add or help with to facilitate Nick's efforts on our behalf.

Dear Mr. Casalanguida:
My friend Bill McDaniel referred me to you as he embellished on your power point
presentation last week in Golden States regarding new roads. This is just what we are looking
for, IF we can get it in before Easter. Our "snowbirds" depart just before Easter.
When Bill's administrative assistant, Sue Filson referred me to you via email, I wanted to also
follow-up with you to explain our timeliness predicament of hopefully having you and your
excellent presentation before Easter. Sue informed me that you are booked
up until April. That leaves us a slim margin to get the presentation in hopefully the first week
of April, either Tuesday, April 4th or Thursday,
April 6th. The next week is Holy Week, which is difficult for the majorally Catholic residents
here in Ave Maria. We hope to hold this communication meeting regarding roads to alleviate
some of the
pessimism and anxiety residents are feeling about being hemmed in by the new Rural Lands
West development starting soon in 2017. That group is also presenting their program in Ave
Maria March 2nd at 7PM at our Master HOA Community Room. However they do not
expand on the subject of road updates, which is dire to our people!
Is it at all possible that we can have you to enlighten us on one of those two early April dates
with the same presentation you gave last week?

Dear Ladies:
While I await your response to having Bill McDaniel make another appearance at a Town Hall
soon, even perhaps as part of a monthly schedule of such Town Halls expressly with Bill, and
while we await a response form Rural Lands West for an update on their promised
appearance, I have two more ideas for more communications meetings. Since it seems that
these communications sessions have become quite popular, why not keep grinding the ax with
more of the same. Only, we need to better advertise and hype these meetings
to seek even greater response and participation.
The CCSO is a hugely favorite topic of discussion what with the recent breaking and entering
we have experienced, the constant speeding and recklessness of at least two and perhaps more
motorcycle riders, and the continued speeding up and down Ave Maria Blvd
that in my opinion is not really being addressed1
Another keen topic might be having Davey executives address us for questions and answers.
There a multiplicity of topics this subject could emanate.
While social topics are always popular, it seems that Allie may take some time to really break
the ice on these type of get-to-gethers. But communications and Town Halls are always
popular since our populace gets to express their thoughts, ideas, and opinions,
which they seem to love to do! Also these are quite informative and educational. Again I
hope that the both of you sit in the same room and participate in these sessions in order to
build up the camaraderie of our changing Master HOA staff!
Have a great rest of the day!

Allie, with all the questions left after our last communications meeting, I feel that we should
again invite Bill McDaniel, as he is most involved with the roads, fire house, etc. Our
people seem to enjoy his presence and discussions. After all, he is our highest local
government official in our county! If you agree, I will send him the dates you described.

Good Afternoon Mr. Vetera,
Luisa and I think monthly communication meetings are a great idea! This would allow us to bring
insight
to the residents of Ave Maria. We could cover a different topic every
month. Some of the topics may include; landscaping, Collier County project, Rural Lands, etc. Should
we plan on holding our next communication meeting the second week of May? The Community
Room is available in the evening on May 9th, 10th
and 12th.
Thank you again for helping communicate with Mr. McDaniel.

Subject:Hospital in Ave Maria Area
Date:Saturday, February 10, 2018 1:30:41 PM
Mr. McDaniel:
As you may know, the Braden Clinic here in Ave Maria is seeking state authorization to build a 25-
bed hospital in this area. At this point, I do not know if this hospital will be an in-network hospital for
my Medicare Advantage plan. A hospital that is not in my insurance company’s network will not be
of any benefit to me. I remember that at a presentation you gave here, you mentioned that you are
working toward getting a hospital built in the area of Camp Keais Road and Immokalee Road. I know
that both NCH and Physicians Regional are in my insurance company’s network. Can you tell me the
status of your efforts?
Thank you for any information you can provide.

Good Morning, Jeanne! Please tell Nick on behalf of all the 65 in attendance at last
Thursday's meeting what a great program he did for us! We were all spellbound about the
roads that we all in Collier County will enjoy after we have reached 150 years of age. It's too
bad these issues take so long, as we all were/are strong in our beliefs that right NOW we need
upgraded roads, especially with both the population jumping yearly AND more and more
snowbirds showing up annually. We are stalemated in congestion on all our roads now.
We thoroughly enjoyed Nick, once we slowed him down, as he is so familiar with his
presentation, that sometimes he forgets that the audience is not as familiar with his charts or
roads as is he. We all sincerely appreciated his warm personality, his earnestness for his trade,
and his ideas and plans for us for the future. He is truly a treasure for Collier County!
Perhaps we can invite him again for a yearly roads update, as things seem to change rapidly
and one year's time might make a great program for all of us as we begin to approach 150
years on earth!
Best wishes, Bob Vetera, Ave Maria

Subject:Monday"s Braden Hospital Event
Date:Friday, March 15, 2019 3:28:54 PM
Good afternoon, Bill.
Do you have any questions about the event on Monday?
Here is a brief overview of how we are planning the event will flow:
-from 3-4:30 there will be an open event to interact with some of our health technology
partners and to mingle with the residents of Immokalee & Ave Maria
-at 4:30, County Commissioner McDaniels will welcome everyone from the stage. Then, we
are hoping that the Commissioner could share some of the stories of the healthcare challenges
of the patients in our area. Then, the Commissioner will introduce the Congressman.
-The Congressman will speak and then introduce Dr. Braden.
-Dr. Braden will talk about the new hospital
Bill- we are hoping that you can share some reasons why the hospital is so important for our
area. Perhaps you could tell some stories related to the lack of access to healthcare in Eastern
Collier County. (It would have been nice to have an ER on Oil Well road when that poor girl
had to be life flighted out the other day). Also, highlight how long Immokalee has been
neglected. It seems to me that the Innovation Zone established in 2015 (link below) might also
be interesting in regards to the Braden Hospital Microhospital Innovation Center.
https://www.naplesnews.com/story/news/government/2018/07/10/collier-county-approves-
innovation-zone-east-naples-economic-development/769775002/
I am not sure what the Congressman will be saying but we have asked him to touch upon the
larger issues with healthcare more generally and why need to re-imagine solutions.
Please give me a call if you have any questions and, again, thank you for your continued
support and your willingness to MC our event for us.

Subject:Nick Casalanguida"s Roads Presentation!
Date:Sunday, April 9, 2017 8:54:55 AM
Hi Bill:
We in Ave Maria missed having you present last Thursday night when Nick Casalanguida
made his outstanding "Collier County Roads Update" presentation for us! We all thoroughly
enjoyed his personality, his earnestness for his occupation, and his well-explained and
organized power point presentation and his personal comments! Thank you for this idea and
helping make it happen!
Nick commented about your great support for his endeavor, as we all appreciate that you are
our new County Commissioner!
Nick stated that we need to get the Feds deregulated, as amongst the three levels of
government involved in permits, locals and state are not nearly as problematic as are the Feds.
He hopes you can help improve that process along with his efforts. Is there anything we
citizens can do to assist that priority process for us?
Nick outlined three key arteries for us in Ave Maria that need special attention:
1) Collier Blvd from Immokalee Road through to Bonita Beach Road - our top priority here
where we live!
2) Randal / Oilwell Roads around Rural Lands West -- both plans seem great and very helpful
for all of us in Ave Maria!
3) Eighth Street west off of Randal Blvd to and including the expansion of Vanderbilt Beach
Road east from Collier Blvd to connect for us!
How and what can we do to escalate these three key road upgrades for our people in Ave
Maria? If we can help you get these under way asap, plus widening Oilwell Road for those
few miles of the two-lane "out of money" part, we would appreciate both! Can we in Ave
Maria do anything to assist this process?
Another key issue that got much attention is the new First Responders House here in Ave
Maria. Comments were made that the CCSO and Immokalee Fire District are ready to go with
this new home for us, but that the Paramedics can't seem to get included, which we all felt was
necessary. Nick suggested that perhaps we need to hold another communications meeting
here in Ave Maria and invite the North Collier - Corkscrew Fire people to come and attempt to
join with them to supplant a somewhat dubious and financially-strapped Immokalee
organization, especially now that they have fired their supportive-to-Ave Fire Chief! Nick felt
that we Ave Marians are key to this triumvirate, and our move to join in with North Collier -
Corkscrew just might force Immokalee off their duffs to join as a third party into one stronger
organization which could pass the permit with all three necessary First Responders more
quickly to start building this new Ave Maria house for the three must-be-included First
Responders! What say you about holding this additional meeting here in Ave Maria to
jumpstart this process!

Dear Bill:
It was great to finally correspond with you again. It's been a while!
Please check your calendars for either Tuesday night, March 21st, or Thursday night, March
23rd, either for 7PM at our Master HOA Community Room in downtown Ave Maria. Please
let me know your preference of either date. If you have any additional information I can
repeat in our announcement of this meeting, please let me know. Our first meeting of a
presentation of Rural Lands West will be at 7pm, Thursday night, March 2nd, also in our
Community Room. Please let me know if you are interested, available, and willing to attend
that meeting also. Our third meeting in this series will be either April 4th or 6th, a
communicative report from one of the Board members over Ave Maria.
All meetings will be held in the Master HOA Community Room, 5076 Annunciation Circle,
the circle around the Oratory church in downtown Ave Maria, across the street from the
Tropical Smoothy, and down on door from the corner offices.
Thanks again for our discussion, as well as the offer to make the powerpoint presentation on
roads and in fracture buildout in our area. We earnestly look forward to seeing you again!

Dear Mr. Casalanguida:
My friend Bill McDaniel referred me to you as he embellished on your power point
presentation last week in Golden States regarding new roads. This is just what we are looking
for, IF we can get it in before Easter. Our "snowbirds" depart just before Easter. When Bill's
administrative assistant, Sue Filson referred me to you via email, I wanted to also follow-up
with you to explain our timeliness predicament of hopefully having you and your excellent
presentation before Easter. Sue informed me that you are booked up until April. That leaves
us a slim margin to get the presentation in hopefully the first week of April, either Tuesday,
April 4th or Thursday, April 6th. The next week is Holy Week, which is difficult for the
majorally Catholic residents here in Ave Maria. We hope to hold this communication meeting
regarding roads to alleviate some of the pessimism and anxiety residents are feeling about
being hemmed in by the new Rural Lands West development starting soon in 2017. That
group is also presenting their program in Ave Maria March 2nd at 7PM at our Master HOA
Community Room. However they do not expand on the subject of road updates, which is dire
to our people!
Is it at all possible that we can have you to enlighten us on one of those two early April dates
with the same presentation you gave last week?

Thanks, Sue, for the info. We will miss Bill, as he did an outstanding job a week ago tonight
hosting his Town Hall meeting. We will miss him April 6th, as he cemented his "niche" in
Ave Maria that night!

Mr. Vetera, I hope all is well with you. I wanted to drop you a note to let you know that
Commissioner McDaniel will not be able to attend the April 6th meeting with Nick. He is
schedule to attend the Florida Association of
Counties Conference in Tallahassee. I am sure Nick will do a great job.
Please let me know if you have any questions or require additional information.

Hi Bill,
This is the email address that we are using to collect letters of support and communicate
about the hospital project. I attached a sample word document file that can be used to fill
out a letter of support, however, our website should be up later today that will also allow
individuals to type directly into the website and sign their name. I will keep you posted as
that moves forward.
See you soon,
Beau Braden

also be interesting in regards to the Braden Hospital Microhospital Innovation Center.

> -from 3-4:30 there will be an open event to interact with some of our health technology partners and to mingle
with the residents of Immokalee & Ave Maria
> -at 4:30, County Commissioner McDaniels will welcome everyone from the stage. Then, we are hoping that the
Commissioner could share some of the stories of the healthcare challenges of the patients in our area. Then, the
Commissioner will introduce the Congressman.
> -The Congressman will speak and then introduce Dr. Braden.
> -Dr. Braden will talk about the new hospital
>
> Bill- we are hoping that you can share some reasons why the hospital is so important for our area. Perhaps you
could tell some stories related to the lack of access to healthcare in Eastern Collier County. (It would have been nice
to have an ER on Oil Well road when that poor girl had to be life flighted out the other day). Also, highlight how
long Immokalee has been neglected. It seems to me that the Innovation Zone established in 2015 (link below) might
also be interesting in regards to the Braden Hospital Microhospital Innovation Center.

>
> I am not sure what the Congressman will be saying but we have asked him to touch upon the larger issues with
healthcare more generally and why need to re-imagine solutions.
>
> Please give me a call if you have any questions and, again, thank you for your continued support and your
willingness to MC our event for us.

Mr. & Mrs. Weigand, this will acknowledge receipt of your email dated April 27, 2017 requesting

Subject: Presentation at Ave Maria?

Good Morning Mr. Vetera.
I had the pleasure of speaking with your wife this morning. She mentioned that you were out for a
nice bike ride !
Mr. Casalanguida would be happy to meet with you and the residents of Ave Maria. I have reserved
the April 6th date you offered.
At your convenience, please give me a call and we can go over a few details.
I look forward to speaking to you. Enjoy your weekend.

Good Morning, Sue!
Originally I sent Bill the summary of notes from the Nick Casalanguida meeting that involved
Bill. Namely four topics, three dealing with roads.
1) Should we approach North Collier-Corkscrew Fire District to join with them, which Nick
thought would force the seemingly reluctant Immokalee Fire Dept to help us get all three first
responders (fire, paramedics, police) into our new Ave Maria home for them asap, as
Immokalee seems to be unnecessarily dragging their feet, and fired their fire chief?
2) Can we step federal permits for roads like:
1- choice: Immokalee to Bonita Beach Road via Collier Blvd
2- choice: Vanderbilt Beach Rd expanded to at least 8th if not Everglades Blvd, then expand
Randal Blvd up through a cutoff to Oilwell Road
3- choice: Randal Blvd "S" curve up to Oilwell Road through the present farmland just east of
the proposed new Rural Lands West development
Thanks for helping us with this meeting.

The meeting will be at 7 PM, at the same place he was before. So if he can come down the 12
miles in time for that, that would be great on May 10th! Also, when it's over, he has only
about 15 miles to go home, on uncongested country roads! Sounds a little
like the John Denver song I play all the time at assisted living homes, huh?
Let me know if he can come May 10th! He volunteered for a date "soon", so we gave him

Hi Sue: Hope you are understanding that Bill responded to his own email over the weekend,
so I retorted back to him. I always love to communicate with you too!
The meeting will be at 7 PM, at the same place he was before. So if he can come down the 12
miles in time for that, that would be great on May 10th! Also, when it's over, he has only
about 15 miles to go home, on uncongested country roads! Sounds a little like the John
Denver song I play all the time at assisted living homes, huh?
Let me know if he can come May 10th! He volunteered for a date "soon", so we gave him
three of our soonest dates!
Thanks for the response and great job you do for him, Having run a $2Billion company, I
know well how valuable someone like you is to a top exec like Bill! Keep up the good work!
Best, Bob Vetera

Mr. Vetera, I need a little more information. What time will the meeting be? I can tell you now that
On May 9th he has a BCC meeting and I do not
schedule for meeting days (we do not know how long the meeting will go) and he is not available on
the 12th, so that leaves the 10th and he is in Immokalee all day. If your meeting is in the evening, I’ll
speak to him to see if he can
make that date.
Thank you.

Allie, with all the questions left after our last communications meeting, I feel that we should
again invite Bill McDaniel, as he is most involved with the roads,
fire house, etc. Our
people seem to enjoy his presence and discussions.

Thank you again for helping communicate with Mr. McDaniel.

Subject: New Communications Meetings

The Braden Hospital will be holding a “Hospital Roll Out Celebration” on March 18, 3-5
PM, in front of the Braden Clinic in Ave Maria.
Congressman Diaz-Balard will be there, folks from Barron Collier Co., Healthcare Network
of SW Florida, the media etc. We will have food, hospital displays, we are setting up a stage
for speakers...you get the picture.
I am hoping that Commissioner McDaniels would like to A) Attend and B) MC the
speakers. This would likely entail saying a few words about the importance of the hospital
and then introducing the congressman and maybe Dr. Braden. (We are open to suggestions).
The Commissioner was one of the hospitals earliest and staunchest supporters and I would
like the voters to see him front and center of all the hospital events.
Thank you for your help and Thanks to Comm. McDaniels for his hard work.

Agency of Healthcare Administration Re: Braden Clinic’s Certificate of Need (CON) To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to express my support for the CON application process for Braden Clinic
to build a new hospital in the town of Ave Maria.
I believe that a new hospital in this vicinity will reduce EMS response times in therural areas of Collier County. With the expected growth in this area it will provide thecurrent and future residents with medical care in a timely manner, and help to relievethe current hospitals from overcrowding. Braden Clinic has been an important part ofserving the healthcare needs of our community and this new facility will furtherexpand access to important services in the 34142 zip code area.
I strongly encourage your approval of the CON application for the Braden Clinic to
build a hospital in Ave Maria.
Very truly yours, William L. McDaniel, Jr., Vice Chairman Collier County Commissioner, District 5
