Resolution 1998-185 16H-2 ' RESOLUTION NO. ge. 185 A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE IMPOSITION AND COLLECTION OF A LOCAL OPTION FEE FOR PROVISION OF ENHANCED EMERGENCY "911" TELEPHONE SERVICE AND EQUIPMENT WHEREAS, Section 365.171(13), Flon"da Stafutes, provides thaI a county may impose a fee for charges for "911" service and equipment to be paid by local exchange subscribers on an individual exchange basis at a rate not 10 exceed firty cenls (S50) per month per access line. and WHEREAS, The Board of County Commissioners of Collicr County, Florida. deems it appropriate and in funherance of public health, safely and welfare to assess a fee for the enhanced "9'1" telephone service availability in Collier County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: 1. Pursuant 10 Section 365.171(13), Flonda Statutes. lhere is hereby imposed against/acal exchange subscribers a local option fee for the provision of enhanced "911" emergency telephone service and equipment in Collier County. This fee shall be adjusted annually to coyer allowable expenses as described in Section 365.171 (13)(a)(6). Florida Statutes. For the period of September 30, 1998 through September 30, 1999, the fee will be thirty. two (32) cenls per subscriber per access line per month. 2. The County requests that the telephone company (exchange lelephone service provider) providing enhanced "911" service and equipment [0 Collier County collect from its subscribers within Collier County, the local option fee assessed by this Resolution and remilthose fees to Collier County 3. Said telephone company, pursuanlto Section 365.171(13){c), Flon"da Statutes, may retain as an adminislrati...e fee an amount of one percent (1%) of the lolal "911" fees actually collected by said telephone company. 4. Money in reserve is being carried forward to provide for capilal improvements described in Section 365.171(13)(a)(3), Flon'da Statutes. Additional money from fiscal year 1997 revenues 10 be .added to the total reserves shall not exceed ten percent (10%) of such fees billed for the 1997 fiscal year. The cumulative reserves are 10 pay for projecled exp.ansion and replacement of E.911 equipment and service fealures described in Section 365.171 (a)(13)(6). Florida Statutes.
