Agenda 03/09/2021 Item #10B (Appointment to the County Government Productivity Committee)10.B 03/09/2021 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to appoint the initial membership of the County Government Productivity Committee. OBJECTIVE: That the Board review the applications and appoint the initial members of the re- established County Government Productivity Committee. CONSIDERATIONS: This committee was originally created by Ordinance No. 91-10, as amended. The committee was dissolved on November 12, 2013 by Ordinance No. 13-62, and re-established on December 12, 2017 by Ordinance No. 17-53. The committee was again dissolved and re-established on January 12, 2021 by Ordinance No. 21-02. The re-established committee is to be composed of nine members: one member from each of the Commission districts and four members at -large. This committee reviews the efficiency of departments and divisions of county government under the jurisdiction of the Board of County Commissioners, in order to assure taxpayers that tax dollars are being used appropriately and that waste of tax dollars is avoided. The committee annually reports its findings and recommendations to the BCC. Of the nine members, there shall be one member from each of the five commission districts, and four at - large members. Candidates for the five commission district seats must be nominated by the commissioner of the district they reside in, and need a simple majority vote for appointment. Candidates for the four at - large seats may be nominated by any commissioner, but must receive a four -fifths vote for appointment or reappointment. Ordinance No. 21-02 directs that the initial terms of office of the committee members shall be as follows: the five district members shall be appointed for two years; the four at -large members shall be appointed for one year. Thereafter, appointments and reappointments shall be for two-year terms.
