EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve a Resolution and execute the FY21-22 Public Transportation Grant
Agreement (PTGA) with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in the amount of
$1,600,164 providing for State funding for eligible Collier County fixed-route transit
administrative, management, and operational expenses in the amount of $800,082, approve a local
match in the amount of $800,082, and authorize the necessary Budget Amendments.
OBJECTIVE: To provide efficient, safe, and timely public transportation for the residents of Collier
County.
CONSIDERATIONS: State funding is made available each year through a process administered by
FDOT under the State Block Grant Program. State Block Grant funding is allocated and made available to
multiple counties across the state through an allocation in the FDOT work plan. The PTGA will provide
funding for eligible administrative, management, and operational expenses incurred as a result of Collier
County providing fixed-route transportation services for its residents. The amount of State dollars
available to Collier County for FY2021-2022 totals $800,082 and requires a local match of $800,082.
FISCAL IMPACT: A Budget Amendment is required to recognize grant funding in the amount of
$800,082 in the Collier Area Transit (CAT) Grant Fund (424) Project 33733 A Budget Amendment is
also required in the amount of $800,082 in FY21 to CAT Grant Match Fund (425), Project 33733.
Matching funds are available within the Collier Area Transit Enhancement Fund (426) supported by a
transfer of General Fund (001) revenue.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: This Item is consistent with the Transportation Element
Objectives 10 and 12 of the Growth Management Plan.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved for form and legality and requires a majority
vote. - JAB
RECOMMENDATION: To approve a Resolution and execute the FY21-22 Public Transportation Grant
Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation in the amount of $1,600,164 to provide
funding for eligible Collier County fixed-route transit administrative, management, and operational
expenses; and authorize necessary Budget Amendments.
