Backup Documents 12/08/2020 Item #16H 2 16HC • PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the Collier County Recycling Ordinance Number 2009-56, established the Waste Reduction Awards Program (the WRAP award); and WHEREAS, the WRAP award recognizes businesses, institutions, and multi-family residences for enhanced and innovative recycling programs; and WHEREAS, The Royal Seafarer Condominium Apartments of Marco Island, Inc. contributes to the greater good of Collier County by advocating the "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" message, thereby helping to prolong the usable life of the Collier County Landfill; and WHEREAS, The Royal Seafarer Condominium Apartments of Marco Island, Inc. has demonstrated its commitment to recycling and source reduction by: • Proactively evaluating their recycling program, taking deliberate action to make improvements and reduce contamination. • Adding additional receptacles in office areas and common areas such as their pool to capture other recyclables that were previously placed in the trash. • Working with the Collier County Waste Reduction team to increase resident awareness of proper recycling practices by providing numerous sources of recycling education materials. • Providing reusable recycle bags to all residents eliminating the use of plastic bags, contributing to decreased contamination. • Adding numerous streams for source reduction and recycling, including bins for residents to donate excess food, share/reuse books, and typical single stream recycling items. WHEREAS, the WRAP award program includes a plaque and space on the County's website showcasing eco-friendly business practices and recycling programs; and WHEREAS, the Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Division congratulates The Royal Seafarer Condominium Apartments of Marco Island, Inc.; NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that we congratulate THE ROYAL SEAFARER CONDOMINIUM APARTMENTS OF MARCO ISLAND, INC.
