c. FDEP Beach Parking Issue
Mr. McAlpin reviewed the Executive Summary "Recommend Approval
of Revised Collier County Beach Parking Policy" (see attachment). The
DEP will cut back on the recent beach renourishment project funding on
the basis that when a County Resident parks at metered parking with a
beach parking permit sticker they do not have to pay, but visitors do. The
resolve would be to modify the parking policy so that when a Collier
County Resident requests a parking sticker, $30.00 would be placed in the
Parking Fund; the funds would have originated from their County Tax.
Non-County residents would then have the opportunity to pay $30.00 for a
beach parking permit sticker.
