HOUSING Collier County Board of County Commissioners abilityhousing.org 3299 Tamiami Trail East, Suite 303 Serving Northeast Naples, FL 34112 and Central Florida Dear Mr. Solis: Thank you for the opportunity to make a presentation regarding the Golden Gate redevelopment at yesterday's Board meeting. The County's active commitment to create housing for seniors, veterans and essential service personnel is commendable. It is an honor and a blessing to have had this opportunity. As we said in our presentation, regardless of the final developer selection, we stand in support of the community's efforts. If there is anything we can do assist with the completing the development, we stand ready to provide whatever we can. The most important issues are not the buildings, floor plans, elevations or amenities....the most important issue is to provide a home for the people who support the community through their work every day. Thank you again for this opportunity. The harsh reality is providing affordable housing is an extremely difficult task.We recognize that challenge and are encouraged by organizations, like Immokalee Fair Housing Alliance, who selflessly provide for this.community.We support IFHA's plan to make this a reality and are truly inspired by their efforts. To be able to provide secure, hurricane resistant housing for farm-worker families and other low to moderate income residents is not an easy endeavor, but we believe it would uplift the entire community. Individuals and families spend a majority of their income on rent.Approving affordable housing allows these workers to not only afford common necessities such as healthy food, clothes, and childcare, but it also provides an opportunity to create a safer and more productive environment. This would mean so much for these individuals and;families and could help create a better lifestyle for all. We,Trinity Commercial Group, believe that every person deserves to feel safe in a home they can afford, and we will support these organizations/non-profits who partake in bettering this community. We are encouraged to see and know a group like this that is selflessly considering others in their community above themselves.Thank you for the consideration. The CPC congregation has a long-standing relationship with the farm workers at Mision Peniel. Volunteers from CPC devote their time and work hard at Mision Peniel in Immokalee on a monthly basis with coordination from the Peace River Presbytery. On any given Friday, volunteers can feed over 500 adults and children and provide donated clothing from congregants in the Presbytery. The living conditions of these workers is appalling and has become even worse since Hurricane Irma. Little to no maintenance of trailers and slipshod cabins. Boarded windows, no climate control, inoperable appliances, water and power issues, domestic unrest among unrelated families in one living unit, and on and on. An extremely unsafe and unhealthy environment for productive workers and healthy families! CPC is not only asking for your support in this endeavor. We are asking you to become a partner with us. CPC has joyfully contributed $8,000 to the IFHA's commitment to provide affordable housing for our brothers and sisters in Immokalee County. Thank you kindly for your consideration, Rev.
