PTO Bulletin 15-09Property Tax Oversight Bulletin: PTO 15-09 To: Property Appraisers From: Property Tax Oversight Program Date: October 16, 2015 Bulletin: PTO 15-09 FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE PROPERTY TAX INFORMATIONAL BULLETIN Agricultural Lands Classification The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DACS) has updated its program documents to the Citrus Health Response Program (CHRP), a federal program originally developed to assist Florida’s citrus industry in preventing the spread of citrus canker, to include citrus greening. To be eligible to receive the agriculture classification, property owners must apply to the property appraiser for the classification by March 1 and provide documentation that the property is used for a bona fide agricultural purpose under Chapter 193, Florida Statutes. Once a qualifying property is converted to a valid eradication or quarantine program, the property owner must provide documentation to the property appraiser that the property is a participant in CHRP. During participation in the program, these properties should have a DOR Land Use Code of 066 and an assessed value of up to $50 per acre pursuant to Section 193.461, Florida Statutes.
