PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the 9-1-1 Telecommunicators of the Collier County Sheriff's Office are the
first responders providing the vital link between the citizens of Collier County
and emergency response; and
WHEREAS, they are the caring, calming voice sending help to those in need during times
of distress, providing vital pre-arrival instructions until help arrives; and
WHEREAS, in 2019, they answered 138,367 9-1-1 calls and texts as well as 217,762
non-emergency calls; and
WHEREAS, the Radio Telecommunicators are vital to ensuring the timely dispatch of calls
for service and the safety of responders by relaying critical information
while accurately tracking activity, and monitored millions of radio
transmissions; and
WHEREAS, they had a direct impact on saving the lives of Collier County residents, with
13 Life Save awards for guiding callers through CPR successfully leading to
the survival of those patients; and
WHEREAS, the 73 Certified Telecommunicators are truly dedicated to the citizens of
Collier County and its first responders and work tirelessly to ensure that
every caller receives expeditious, caring help;
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, that April 12-18, 2020 was
NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 28th Day of April, 2020.
