and Emergency Services Director, Dan Summers, regarding COVID-19.
Move Item 16A9 to Item 11E: Recommendation to direct staff to advertise, and bring back for a
public hearing, at the April 28, 2020 Board Meeting, an Ordinance amending the Land
Development Code relating to the timing of required inspections for communication towers, to add
a Nominal Alteration Plan to simplify the review of certain changes to Site Development Plans, to
limit architectural lighting on buildings and light on car wash equipment, to clarify public notice
provisions for certain land use petitions, and to correct citations. (Staff’s request)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign the attached Interlocal
Agreement which provides for services and education via multi -county Agricultural Extension
Agents of the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Extension and
authorize $32,422.52 as Collier County’s proportionate share of this Agreement.
OBJECTIVE: To approve and authorize the Chairman to sign the attached Interlocal Agreement and
approve Collier County’s share of funding in the amount of $32,422.52 for the University of Florida
Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) Extension Multi-County agents as provided in the
Interlocal Agreement.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Collier County University Extension Division provides relevant education to
improve the lives of the people of Collier County on a variety of relevant Extension topics utilizing the
following program areas: Sustainable Food Systems, Residential Horticulture, Commercial Horticulture,
Family Nutrition Program, 4-H Youth Development, and Sea Grant. Since 2009, Collier County along
with Lee County, Charlotte County, Glades County, and Hendry County has utilized the “win-win”
Interlocal agreement to share the expenses for the valuable expertise of specialized multi -county
agriculture agents who are experts in Commercial Vegetable Production, Commercial Citrus Production,
and Commercial Livestock Production. This agreement provides the necessary ongoing education,
support, and cutting edge science plus best agricultural practices to the commercial agriculture producers
who bring in more than two (2) billion dollars into Collier County annually.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funding is provided in the Collier University Extension, Education Training
Department within the General Fund (001-157110).
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: These agents provide educational services and technical
support to the farmers and ranchers of Southwest Florida on a wide range of subjects ensuring that the
findings of University research are communicated to the farmers and ranchers within Collier County.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved as to form and legality and requires majority vote
for approval. -CMG
RECOMMENDATION: To approve and authorize the Chairman to sign the attached Interlocal
Agreement which provides for services and education via multi-county Agricultural Extension Agents of
the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Extension and authorize $32,422.52
as Collier County’s proportionate share in this Agreement.
