Collier Enterprises Proposal (2)From:Ronald Watson To:FialaDonna Subject:Collier Enterprises Proposal Date:Friday, December 6, 2019 5:23:57 PM EXTERNAL EMAIL: This email is from an external source. Dear Collier County Commissioners: I am writing to express strong opposition of Rivergrass Village and I am asking you to vote for denial of the project on December 10. If approved, Rivergrass Village would set a bad example for future development in eastern Collier County. Not only would Rivergrass Village destroy over 700 acres of habitat for the endangered Florida panther, but also Rivergrass’ design is contrary to the type of development Collier County citizens were promised for eastern Collier. New villages and towns should be self-sufficient, walkable, and provide an innovative plan to accommodate residents of all ages, incomes, and abilities. Instead, Rivergrass Village is no different than a typical gated subdivision, because it is sprawling, it will worsen traffic congestion, and it requires residents to drive for essential goods and services. The plan is also very dangerous for pedestrians and bicyclists because they must cross Oil Well Road, a 55-mph freight road, to get the Village Center. Furthermore, the project’s lack of housing diversity would only worsen the county’s affordable housing crisis. Please vote “No” on Rivergrass Village in order to maintain high standards of development in Collier County and to require developers to play by the rules.
