Agenda 12/10/2019 Item # 3D 1 (Employee of the month Olga Grie)12/10/2019
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize Olga Grie, Public Utilities Applications Analyst, as the October 2019
Employee of the Month.
OBJECTIVE: To recognize the efforts and accomplishments of an employee who has made significant
contributions to the organization and to our community.
CONSIDERATIONS: Olga has been working with Facilities Management since 2015. In August this
year, Facilities launched the City Works program which is the county’s enterprise asset management
system that manages all service requests, work orders, and inventory, and also involved the creation of a
new space management system.
Olga has been and continues to be integral to the successful launch of this system in the Division. She
spearheaded meetings and trainings with Facilities staff, as well as the Clerk’s Office staff and PUD
Inventory team members over the last few months to prepare the team for this major change. She served
as a liaison between Facilities and the rest of the Public Utilities Department for communications
involving City Works, and continuously troubleshoots issues along the way. As the Facilities Division
utilizes a work order system for the county’s facilities issues, Olga designed a new work order system to
be compatible within City Works to meet the division’s internal needs. She executed the successful
migration of over 400 existing IDN (Infrastructure Dot Net) work orders to the new system in City Works
over the weekend before the launch, which was a major undertaking in and of itself. She stayed late and
worked weekends, dedicating her time to ensuring this system was ready to go and make a smooth
transition. She handled employee’s reservations and concerns about making the change with the utmost
professionalism and her positive attitude is unwavering and contagious.
In addition to launching City Works and the responsibilities of her everyday job as an Applications
Analyst, Olga also supported the Facilities Operations Center staff when they had an extended vacancy in
the supervisor position. The remaining team is relatively new to their roles, and Olga voluntarily stepped
in to provide guidance and support to the team. She exemplifies the mission of the county by delivering
high-quality work to support the division, modeling the Core Values and Guiding Principles, and living
our motto every day. By putting her all into the launching of City Works, supporting the Facilities
Operations and Maintenance team, and continuing to excel at her other responsibilities, Olga has
demonstrated how very deserving she is of the Employee of the Month award.
FISCAL IMPACT: The selected “Employee of the Month” receives a $150.00 cash award. Funds for
this are available in the employee’s budget cost center.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There are no Growth Management Impacts associated with
this Executive Summary.
