EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to accept an award of $63,560 in grant funds from the State of Florida
Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services for supplies and training and to
authorize necessary Budget Amendments.
OBJECTIVE: To expand and improve pre-hospital emergency medical services utilizing State grant
funds.
CONSIDERATIONS: The County received notification of funding on August 16, 2019 in the amount
of $63,560. On September 24, 2019, the Board of County Commissioners appro ved the submittal of a
grant application to the State of Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services in
the amount of $63,560. The purpose of the grant is to improve operational efficiency and increase the
safety of patients and field personnel and funds will be used to purchase necessary supplies, equipment,
and training.
A grant award notice in the form of a letter will be forthcoming from the State of Florida. There is no
formal agreement requiring Board signature. The previously signed application affirms compliance with
the terms and conditions of the grant. Should the funding amount be awarded higher than the anticipated
$63,560, a subsequent Board action will be forthcoming.
FISCAL IMPACT: This grant requires no local match. A Budget Amendment is necessary to
appropriate the grant award of $63,560 within EMS Grant (493), Project 33655.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management impact.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved for form and legality and requires a majority
vote for Board action. - JAB
RECOMMENDATION: To approve and accept the award and authorize the Budget Amendment in the
amount of $63,560 to appropriate the grant funds.
