Attachment 1 6 E 5 RESOLUTION NO. 2019-19 9 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE COLLIER COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES (EMS) DIVISION TO DONATE SURPLUS PROPERTY. WHEREAS, the Collier County EMS Division has acquired, used, and maintained two ambulances ("Property") that are scheduled for auction with an estimated value of$12,000; and WHEREAS, Florida Statute §125.38, sets forth the process by certain entities may apply to the Board of County Commissioners(Board)for real or personal property owned by the County; and WHEREAS,Florida Southwestern State College and Hodges University,who both qualify under Florida Statute §125.38 to receive donations from Collier County,have applied to the Collier County EMS Division for surplus ambulances for use in their Paramedic Training Programs; and WHEREAS, these ambulances will be used to provide students with real ambulance environment experience in various procedures that are difficult to replicate in a laboratory setting, such as stretcher loading and unloading, patient care in the confines of an ambulance, and emergency scene staging; and WHEREAS, Florida Southwestern State College and Hodges University are the only two facilities in Collier County that provide training to EMTs and Paramedics, and Collier County EMS utilizes both institutions to train future Collier County EMTs as paramedics; and WHEREAS, the requested ambulances were recommended for replacement by the Fleet Management Division due to age, mileage, and cost of maintenance and were scheduled for auction; and WHEREAS, the Board is satisfied that such Property is required for such use and is not needed for County purposes and authorizes the EMS to donate two ambulances as described in Exhibit A. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA that this Board, for the reasons set forth above, hereby authorizes the Collier County EMS Division to donate the two ambulances, one to Florida Southwestern State College and one to Hodges University, as set forth in Exhibit A to this Resolution, 16E5 THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED after motion, second and majority vote favoring same, this 2— day of O� ,,— , 2019.
