EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommend that the Board of County Commissioners authorize the
Chairman to sign and send on behalf of the BCC the Destination Management
Accreditation Program 2007 Annual Report Form for the Naples, Marco
Island, Everglades Convention & Visitors Bureau
OBJECTIVE: To sign and submit the Destination Management Accreditation Program Annual
Report Form on behalf of the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention & Visitors Bureau.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Nap]es, Marco Island, Everglades Convention & Visitors Bureau
(CVB) is the official destination marketing organization for Collier County tourism as designated
by the County Commission on December] 7, 2002. The CVB received its accreditation from the
Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP) on December ]2, 2006. This
accreditation is for four years and must be renewed each year. An Annual Report is to be
prepared and submitted to DMAP indicating any changes in operations, leadership or tourism
industry challenges that would make the CVB non-compliant to any of the 80 accreditation
criteria. The Annual Report for 2007 has been prepared by staff and signed by Jack Wert serving
as Executive Director ofthe CVB and presented to the Tourist Development Council (TDC) for
their recommendation. The signature of the Chairman of the BCC is now required to complete
the form and submit it to DMAP.
ADVISORY COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS: The TDC unanimously recommended
submission ofthe Destination Management Accreditation Annual Report Form as presented at
the January 28, 2008 meeting.
COUNTY ATTORNEY FINDING: This item has been reviewed for legal sufficiency by the
County Attorney's Office.
FISCAL IMP ACT: There is no fiscal impact related to this action.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMP ACT: There is no impact to the Growth Management Plan
related to this action.
RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the Chairman to sign the Destination Management
Accreditation Program 2007 Annual Report for the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades
Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The report will be sent to Accredited DMOs in years two (2) and three (3) along with the invoice
for the yearly maintenance fee. Please note, failure to complete and retum the annual report to
DMAP, and pay the yearly maintenance fee will be considered non-compliant and will result in

There were no areas of improvement cited by DMAP from our initial accreditation. We have
made some improvements on our own initiative in the areas of sales activity reporting.

We have seen an improvement in the attitude of our local media on our operations and
marketing activities due in-part to our accreditation.

procedures.
No suggestions on improvements at this time. The changes implemented after the last DAMP
Board Meeting addressed any concerns.

exception of any potential deficiencies noted in Section Iii of this report.

may be used by DMAP for statistical purposes in the evaluation of the accreditation
program.
