EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to award RFP #08-5019 and Agreement between Collier County
and Building Systems Evaluation, Inc., dba Fire Sprinkler Systems Company, dba
BSE for Fire Sprinkler and Alarm Testing, Inspection, Maintenance, and
Installation for an estimated annual amount of $165,000.
OBJECTIVE: To obtain approval from the Board of County Commissioners to award RFP #08-
5019 and Agreement between Collier County and Buildin9 Systems Evaluation, Inc., dba Fire
Sprinkler Systems Company, dba BSE for Fire Sprinkler and Alarm Testing, Inspection,
Maintenance, and Installation for an estimated annual amount of $165,000.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Department of Facilities Management is responsible for the
maintenance and repair of all County facilities. Outside contractors are used by Facilities
Management to provide proper testing and maintenance to building fire alarm systems.
RFP #08-5019 was posted on December 4, 2007. Forly-six notices of the RFP were sent out
and two proposals were received by the due date of January 4, 2008. The Selection Committee
chose Building Systems Evaluation, Inc., by consenSllS, to perform fire sprinkler and alarm
testing, inspection, maintenance, and installation for an initial two (2) years with two additional
one (1) year renewal periods at the County's discretion. Building Systems Evaluation, Inc.. had
this contract for the previous four years and has performed satisfactorily.

FISCAL IMPACT: Annual expenses for fire sprinkler and alarm testing services total
$165,000.00. Funds are budgeted under the General Fund (001) within the Building
Maintenance Section's operating budget.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with
this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves the award of RFP
#08-5019 and Agreement between Collier County and Building Systems Evaluation, Inc., dba
Fire Sprinkler Systems Company, dba BSE for Fire Sprinkler and Alarm Testing, Inspection,
Maintenance, and Installation for an estimated annual amount of $165,000, and authorizes the
Chairman to sign the standard Agreement after County Attorney review.
