EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
PRESENTATION OF THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE OUTSTANDING MEMBER AWARD
TO DR. JAMES ALWARD V AN FLEET, COUNTY GOVERNMENT PRODUCTIVITY
COMMMITTEE
OBJECTIVE: To recognize and reward an advisol)' committee member for their outstanding
and dedicated service to Collier County.
CONSIDERATIONS: On September 21, 2004, the Board of County Commissioners adopted
Resolution No. 2004-280 to recognize and reward outstanding Advisol)' Committee members for
their significant contributions to the organization and/or community. The respective committees
nominate the outstanding Advisol)' Committee members and the Awards Committee (same
committee that currently selects the Employee of the Month) evaluates and selects volunteers
from the nomination forms.
AWARD COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION:
Dr. James Alward Van Fleet. County Government Productivity Committee for Mav 2008.

Dr. Van Fleet has earned the respect and admiration of his fellow committee members as well as
county staff. Jim proudly serves as a member of both the Productivity Committee and the
Hispanic Affairs Advisol)' Board; he has held the position of chairman on both advisol)'
committees.
Jim has used his expertise in economics, public administration, and urban planning to bring
many projects to successful completion. Jim is proud to call Collier County his "home" and he
works hard to ensure that our community remains a great place to live. His sense of humor,
attention to detail, and high level of professionalism truly make him an outstanding advisol)'
committee member.

GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: NONE
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners present the Outstanding
Advisol)' Committee Volunteer Award to Dr. James Alward Van Fleet for his work on the
County Government Productivity Committee.

The objective of this program is to recognize significant contributions to the organization and/or
community by members of the many advisory boards and committees formed to assist the Board of
County Commissioners in carrying out their elected duties. All committee members who have
completed at least one year volunteer service on an advisory committee are eligible for nomination.
A committee may nominate one of their members if they satisfy one or more of the criteria listed
below. The specific reasons for the nomination should be documented on this form under the
