Approve a budget amendment transferring $66,000 of General Fund reserves to the Other
General Administration cost center.
OBJECTIVE: Approve a budget amendment transferring $66,000 of General Fund reserves to the
Other General Administration cost center.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Other General Administration cost center needs to increase the budget
for Unemployment Compensation in order to pay claims. Based upon historical experience, $56,000
was budgeted for FY -2008. The budget shortfall is the result of a reduction in work force and the
subsequent unemployment claims. At the current number of unemployment claims $66,000 will be
necessary to cover remaining FY -2008 expenditures.
Approval of this document by the County Manager is subject to formal ratification by the Board of
County Commissioners. If the decision by the County Manager is not ratified by that Board, this
document shall be enforceable against Collier County only to the extent authorized by law in the
absence of such ratification by that Board.
(-
FISCAL IMPACT: Funds totaling $66,000 will be made available by decreasing General Fund
Reserve for Contingencies.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approves this executive summary
and the attendant budget amendment in order to allow for the processing of Unemployment
Compensation claims.
