The Committee would like the Board to help us bring the Dignity Memorial
Vietnam Wall to Naples for residents and the surrounding communities to be
able to pay their respect and help heal this wound that still exist. The
committee would like to open the Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall to the
public for free 24 hours a day for 3 days (9/26/2008 thru 9/28/2008) and open
it up to the schools free of charge for 1 day (9/25/2008). If the board
approves the waiving of the fees, it would help enable a safe and memorable
experience for many residents and visitors to Collier County.
Please exolain in detai/the action YOU are askino the Commission to take (attach

We would like for the Board to waive the County Fee on the CAT Busses, the
Variable Signage and the EMT Mobile Unit. The Dignity Memorial Vietnam
Wall Committee is made up of many public and civic groups in Collier
County that are bringing a 240 foot replica of the Vietnam Wall to Naples.
This not for profit committee that would like to give the opportunity to those
who may never travel to Washington D. C. to pay respect to the veterans and
their families, who gave their lives in Vietnam. Since "The Wall" is hoping to

location of the wall. The closest parking lot is the Naples-Bonita sprin~"Q.~'1f'''6 (",
Dog Track. The lowest bid for bussing is $18,000.
Since there is no parking on sight, signage is needed to direct people the 5
miles to the Dog Track. Without the signage there will be a major work load
put onto the Collier County Sherriff's Department. The signage will aid them
in directing traffic and preventing back-ups on 111th Ave. It is imperative to
keep traffic down to a minimum in case of an emergency.
This also is one of the reasons that the EMT Mobil unit is necessary. Since
the Vietnam Wall experience can be a very emotional experience no one
knows what kind of problems mayarise. There will be a large number of
older and disabled residents that will be visiting during these 3 days. With
Florida's September heat many of our visitors may have problems. The
committee would like to be prepared to handle a small problem to larger
problems that may occur.
Because of the safety and medical issues with bringing the wall to Naples,
the Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall committee would like the Board to waive
the fees on the CAT, the Variable signage and the EMT Mobile Unit.
