EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommend approval of Category "D" Tourist Development Grant Application for
the Naples Pier Annualized Repair and Maintenance with the City of Naples in the
amount of $18,000.00 for FY-08/09.
OBJECTIVE: To recommend approval of Tourist Development Category "D" Grant
Application and request in the amount of $18,000 for FY-08/09.

TOTAL $18,000. $16,200.
Ordinance No. 2005-43: Tourist Development Category "D" funding is provide to acquire,
construct, extend, enlarge, remodel, repair, improve, maintain, operate or promote one or
more fishing piers which are publicly owned and operated. This grant application meets
these requirements.
ADVISORY COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS:
At the April 10, 2008 CAC meeting this item was recommended for approval with the City
of Naples in the amount of $18,000. This recommendation carried unanimously 8-0.
At the May 19, 2008 TDC meeting this item was reviewed for Category "A" funding;
however, the TDC recommended this item be approved with Category "D" Tourist
Development funding with the City of Naples in the amount of $18,000. This
recommendation carried unanimously 9-0.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: Reviewed and approved for legal sufficiency. -CMG
FISCAL IMPACT: This grant application has been included in the proposed Fiscal Year
2009 Fund 195 Budget.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no impact to the Growth Management
Plan related to this action.

RECOMMENDATION: For the BCC to approve the attached Category "D" Tourist
Development Grant Applications and request in the amount of $18,000.00 for FY-08/09
and approve all necessary grant agreements per County Attorney's approval.

Description: The activity description for this project includes labor and material for the upkeep
and safety of the pier. This project has not been grant funded in the past. However the pier is
clearly and tourist attractor and destination, and the public safety through the continued maintain
of the pier is of paramount importance. Repair and maintenance issues include responsibility
and public safety of pier structure, wooden deck, restroom's and storage facilities as well
as water and electrical systems related to the pier's use as a fishing, tourist and
recreational structure.
