Backup Documents 03/10/2009 Item # 4B PROCLAMA TION t 48 I WHEREAS, pets provide companionship to more than 71 million households in the United States: an"- WHEREAS, humane societies and animal shelters have to put down more then four million cats, dogs, and rabbits each year, many of whom are healthy and adoptable, due to a lack of critical resources and public awareness,' an"- WHEREAS, this tragic over papulation of pets cost citizens and taxpayers of this country millions of dollars annually through animal services programs aimed at coping with the mt1lions of homeless animals: an"- WHEREAS, spaying and neutering has been shown to dramatically reduce the overpopulation of pets, proving to be a wise investment in saving animal lives and taxpayer dollars: an"- WHEREAS, local veterinarians, Collier County l>omestic Animal Services, and private citizens worked together to ensure the spaying or neutering of more then 120 pets in Collier County through February 24, 2009, Spay Day USA 2009. NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida that appreciation and gratitude is bestowed upon the following local veterinarians for their participation in Spay Day USA 2009: All Animals Clinic, Animalife Veterinary Center, Big Cypress, Brown Veterinary Clinic, Cat Care Clinic of Naples, Crossroads Veterinary Clinic, Eastside Animal Clinic, Gulfshore Animal Hospital, Harborside Animal Clinic, Humane Animal Clinic, Mission Hills Animal Clinic, Pebblebrooke Veterinary, and Pinegate Veterinary Clinic.
