PROCLAMA TION
WHEREAS, the mandatory Recycling Ordinance No. 2004-50 adopted by the Board of County
Commissioners on July 27, 2004, established the Waste Reduction Awards Program; and,
WHEREAS, the WRAP award recognizes businesses and institutions for enhanced and innovative recycling
programs; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is pleased to recognize Intech Printing and Direct Mal1,
Inc., for contributing to the greater good of Collier County by adopting "eco-friendly policies"
and preserving the earths resources, thereby helping to prolong the usable life of the Collier
County Landfill; and,
WHEREAS, Intech Printing and Direct Mail, Inc., sets a good example for the printing industry; and,
WHEREAS, some aspects of their recycling program and source reduction includes:
. Printing on paper made from trees harvested responsibly by environmentally friendly
standards.
. Digital printing which keeps waste poper to a minimum and the facility disposes of this waste
in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
. Plate and chemical recycling, recycling of ink canisters, and using non-petroleum based inks.
. Providing each staff member with a desk-side recycling container for the easy collection of
recyclable office poper, and adding recycle bins in all areas that did not have them; in the
printing press areas and direct mailing work stations; both in the front and back of the
building for employees.
. Being a leader in the print community for more than 20 years, the staff of Intech Printing
and Direct Mail, Inc., has become truly involved with sustainability concerns, and raised their
awareness of the port they play in protecting the environment.
WHEREAS, the WRAP award program includes a framed certificate, a trophy, use of the WRAP logo and
space on the colliergov.net/recycles website showcasing their eco-friendly business practices
and recycling program.
NOW THEREFORE. be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that
the Solid Waste Management Department and the Board of County Commissioners congratulate
David Wacker and Patricia Wacker and all the staff of Intech Printing and Direct Mail, Inc.,
for their outstanding eco-friendly business practices and continued efforts to promote waste
reduction and recycling. Their team promotes environmental awareness and sets a positive
example for others. Their initiatives will have a significant effect on sustaining the usable life
of the Collier County Landfill and protecting the environment.
