WHEREAS, the mandatory Recycling Ordinance No. 2004-50 adopted by the Board of County
Commissioners on July 27, 2004, established the Waste Reduction Awards Program: and,
WHEREAS, th~ WRAP award re::ogruZes businesses and institutions for .?lIhJnced and innovative r.::cyc/ing
programs: and,
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is pleased to recognize Intech Printing and Direct Mai/,
Ine., for contributing to the greater good of Collier C"lmty by adopting "eco~friendly polides"
and preserving the earths resources, thereby helping to prolong the lIsable life of the Collier
County Landfill,' and,
WHEREAS, Intech Pr;nting Dnd Direct MOI'l, Inc., sets a good example for the printing industry: and,
WHEREAS, some aspects of thtdr recycling program and source reduction includes:
Printing on paper mode from trees harVl!sted responsibly by environmentally friendly
standards.
Digital printing which ke:!p$ waste paper to a minimum and the faCIlity disposes of this waste
in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
Plate and chemical recycling, recycling of ink canisters, and using non-petroleum based inks.
Providing each staff member with a desk-side recycling container for the easy collection of
recyclable office paper, and adding recycle bins in all areas that did not hove them.' in the
printing press areas and direct mailing work stations,' both in the front and back of the
building for employees.
Being 0 leader in the print community for more than 20 years, the staff of Intech Printing
and Direct Mall, Inc., has Ncome truly involved with sunoinobllity concerns, and raised their
awareness of the part they play in protecting the environment.
WHEREAS.
the WRAP award program includes a framed certificate, a trophy, use of the WRAP logo and
space on the colHergov.net/recycles website showcasing their eeo-friendly blJsiness practices
and recycling program.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County CammissiDners af Collier County. Florida, that
the Solid Waste Management Department tmd the Board of County CommissiMers congratulate
David Wacker and Patricia Wacker and all the staff of Intech Printing and Direct Mail, Inc.,
for their outstanding eco-friendly business practices and continued efforts to promote waste
reduction and recycling. Their team promotes environmental awareness and sets a positive
example for others. meit' initiatives wi/I hove a significant effect on sustaining the usable life
of the Collier County Landfill and protecting the environment.
