Agenda 06/25/2019 Item #16C 7 (Facilities Management BA- Hurricane Irma Repair Work)06/25/2019
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize a Budget Amendment for the Facilities Management Division in the
amount of $2,900,000 within County-wide Capital Projects Fund (301) to cover necessary
Hurricane Irma repair work.
OBJECTIVE: To provide necessary funding to the Facilities Management Division to continue the
Hurricane Irma repair work.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Division of Facilities Management is responsible for the maintenance,
repair, capital replacement and construction of County-owned buildings and facilities. The Division of
Facilities Management is also responsible for the repair work on these facilities resulting from Hurricane
Irma.
The repair work involves a series of projects at the many facilities throughout the County. The current
budget does not support the volume or cost of these repairs. To continue the repairs, staff is requesting a
budget amendment to provide necessary funding to complete these projects. Staff will work to procure
repair services using FEMA compliant methods where feasible, following procurement guidelines, and
ensure project documentation is submitted to FEMA and Risk Management to facilitate maximum
reimbursement.
The repairs at various locations will include repairs to roofs, gutters, canopies, doors, stucco, lights, signs,
and fences. The value of the projects have been determined in part by FEMA, CDR Maguire and in -
house inspectors. Due to the volume of repairs, there will be ongoing repair work into the next fiscal year.
FISCAL IMPACT: A Budget Amendment is necessary to establish all required appropriations, which
includes FEMA revenue and the Hurricane Irma Project No. 50154 expense budget, in the amount of
$2,900,000 within the County-Wide Capital Fund 301.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no legal
issues, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with this
Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners authorizes a Budget Amendment
for the Facilities Management Division in the amount of $2,900,000 to cover costs associated with
Hurricane Irma repairs.
