EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize Heidi Fahnestock, Nutrition Program Leader,
Housing and Human Services, as Employee of the Month for May 2009.
OBJECTIVE: To recognize Heidi Fahnestock, Nutrition Program Leader, Housing and Human
Services, as Employee of the Month for May 2009.
CONSIDERATIONS: Heidi Fahnestock, Nutrition Program Leader, has been nominated as the
"Employee of the Month" for May 2009. Heidi has been an employee of the County since 2006
and has worked in the Housing and Human Services Department for a little over a year.
When Heidi arrived, the department had just taken over operation of the Senior Nutrition
Program from an outside agency. This program is designed to promote better health for elderly
citizens with economic needs. Heidi had the responsibility of bringing the program up to federal
standards. With more than 60 overdue client assessments and many incomplete files, Heidi
jumped in and created forms and procedures to simplify reporting, billing and client file
maintenance. Her efforts were rewarded during the annual monitoring with an outstanding
report. Since she started with the program, Heidi has more than doubled the number of frail,
homebound seniors receiving home delivered meals. The program has also seen a 15%
increase in clients served at the County's two congregate meal sites.
Heidi is responsible for over 200 clients and she knows every one of them by name. Many of
these clients are living in substandard conditions and Heidi goes above and beyond to secure
additional community resources for them. Examples of this include providing microwaves,
clothing donations, bedding, kitchen supplies and toiletries to those in need. Heidi is an asset to
her department and the community. She is truly deserving of this award.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item presents no legal issues. - JAK
FISCAL IMPACT: The selected "Employee of the Month" receives a $150.00 cash award.

this Executive Summary.

Heidi Fahnestock as "Employee of the Month" for May 2009.
