I am totally opposed to this project. 1. We don’t want re-zoning of property in community areas. Re-zoning leads to more development not suitable for the surrounding communities. We don’t want cluster housing. To build 400 multi-family units with some as high as 55 to 60 feet is unacceptable. In addition, 140 hotel/motel rooms. An additional 400-500 vehicles on Immokalee Rd. is prohibitive. This roadway is at capacity already. 2. This property was zoned as access 20 years ago. There have been quite a few changes in the areas development since that time. 3. With all the new communities built east of the 111 interchange and commercial properties developed, the traffic on Immokalee Rd. is one of the most traveled roads in Collier County. We have traffic jams at the corners of Northbrook Rd., Tarpon Rd., intersecting Immokalee Rd., one block from I75. At times entrance to I75 on Immokalee Rd is backed up for over a mile. 4. I live in Huntington Lakes and when the traffic light was moved from the bridge, which is the front entrance to Huntington Lakes, it made our main entrance inaccessible because of the volume of traffic. Northbrook Rd. is our only option and that has a very large volume of traffic due to the 7-11 on the corner, Hodges College, Montessori School, The Hampton Inn Hotel, as well as other commercial properties. Actually, Northbrook Dr. needs much improvement. 5. NCH Hospital is also on Immokalee Rd. Emergency vehicles, Ambulances and fire trucks have great difficulty getting to their destination in time of crisis. 6. We have a High School and Elementary School on Immokalee Rd. with many vehicles going in and out. 7. Right now the traffic is a saturated roadway. 8. Immokalee Rd. is the only nearby road with access to I75 and is at dangerous levels already. 9. What is needed is infrastructure roads that go East and West to access I75. We also need more roads connecting Immokalee southward toward Ft, Myers. The present infrastructure cannot handle any more traffic. 10. New buildings (food stores) at Logan and Immokalee Rds., the coming of Seed to Table at Immokalee and Livingston Rds. and additional apartments is already going to add additional un-needed traffic. We re going to have monumental traffic jams, worse than we have already. 11. More congestion, more pollution, less safety, the quality of life has already been effected and it will only get worse. 12. We have a Super Target, Super Walmart, Sam’s Club, and many other buildings along Immokalee Rd. just East and West of I75 entrance and exit. I believe the Board of Commissioners must take a hard look at what a complete mess more development in this corridor creates without the proper infrastructure to accommodate it. What is happening to the quality of life in this area is a total disregard for the communities here. When I75 was expanded a noise barrier wall should have been erected to protect the surrounding communities. Why is our quality of life ignored? I have been a home owner in Huntington Lakes for 21 years and enough is enough!
