The change order will replace a majority of Golden Necklace Pod with other readily available plant materials, add a directional bore to the contract, and add days to the project's completion date. 2. The change being requested was not included in the original contract because, at the time of bidding, the contractor confirmed with plant nurseries that 489 Golden Necklace Pod were available. An existing sleeve for wiring is unusable, and a new directional bore is needed to replace the sleeve. Also, it was unknown there would be extended delays from Florida Power and Light (FP&L) for power at two well locations, and other events causing delays. Staff recommends the following as solutions to complete the project: ➢ Change Golden Necklace Pod: Plant material substitutions are required because of Golden Necklace Pod availability at nurseries. The contractor was only able to procure 40 plants of the 489 plants per the agreement; therefore, the design consultant and project manager are recommending the following plant materials changes: adding (133)-Muhly Grass, (30) Silver Saw Palmetto, (112) Fountain Grass, (228) Coontie, and (307) Golden Creeper while deleting (449) Golden Necklace Pod plants from the project. ➢ Add 3" Directional Bore: An existing 8" sleeve originally meant to run wiring from the east side of Median 57 to the west side of Median 58 is clogged under the pavement making it unusable for the project. The ends of the existing sleeve were found in the medians before irrigation installation. The condition of the sleeve was unknown, until attempting to install the irrigation wiring. The contractor can drill a 3" HDPE bore from median 57 to median 58 to install irrigation wiring. They installed the wrong size wire for the higher voltage transformers down the pole to the hand hole. To date we still do not have power on locations number three and four. Number five has a meter on it now installed earlier this week. We have been done with the main line for over a week on location number three but have no power to run the pumps to flush and set valves& heads.
