EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve budget amendments totaling $23,513 to reeognize additional
net revenue awarded in the Services for Seniors program from the Area Agency on Aging
for the State of Florida General Revcnue programs and authorize eligible expenditures
prior to the execution of the amendment.
OBJECTIVE: The approval of thcse budget amendments is necessary to rccognize additional
grant funding awarded to the Services for Seniors Program and cxpend the funds prior to June
30,2009.
CONSIDERATIONS: Collier Coumy Services j(]r Seniors provides in-home support services to
Collier County's frail elderly through grant funding received from the State of Florida Department of
Elder Affairs. These grants are funded from the State's general revenue. These programs include the
Community Care for the Elderly (CCE) and Home Care for the Elderly (HCE) programs. The
above mentioned programs are intcndcd to provide in-home support services to Collier County's
frail elderly. The net amount of funding for the Services for Seniors prob'Tam is $18,465.
However, only the revenue from the CCE and HCE casc management components of the grant
will affect the County budget. Therefore, the total tiscal impact on the County budget will be
$23,513. The decrease in funding for I-ICE subsidics in thc amount of $5,048 will affcct funds
that are retained by the grar1tor agcncy. A fonnal amcndment to the ab'Teement will be
~ forthcoming from the Area Agency on Aging in the near future and will be presentcd to the
Board of County Conunissioners for approval. Funds will be disbursed to the County on a
reimbursement basis. Therefore, funds must be budgeted in SAP prior to expending and
requesting reimbursement from the grantor agency. In order to remain in compliance with our
grant agreement, it is imperativc that all grant funds bc expended by June 30, 2009. Therefore it
is necessary to increase the grant budgct prior to the cxecution of the amendmcnt in order to
increase client service levels and facilitate the purchase of ullowab1c expenditures.
