EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Kenny Mateja of Tropiclean Gas and Auto Spa requests a Temporary Use Permit in
accordance with the provisions of the Land Development Code (LDC) for seven consecutive
weekends (Friday and Saturday) at 9995 East Tamiami Trail, Section 20, Township 50
South, Range 26, for a sum total fourteen day time limit that is allowed by the LDC during
the 2009 calendar year to display a carwash promotional banner for his business, and to
allow the applicant to pay a one time two hundred dollar fee to encompass the entire
requested length of time.
OBJECTIVE: To request a Temporary Use Permit in accordance with the provisions of the
Land Development Code (LDC) for seven consecutive weekends (Friday and Saturday) at 9995
East Tamiami Trail, Section 20, Township 50, Range 26, three weeks beyond the sum total
twenty-eight day time limit that is allowed by the LDC during the 2009 calendar year, to display
a carwash promotional banner for his business, and to allow the applicant to pay a one time two
hundred dollar fee to encompass the entire requested length of time.
CONSIDERATIONS: Mr. Mateja, the owner of Tropiclean Gas and Auto Spa, is asking that
he be allowed to display one carwash promotion banner for seven consecutive weekends (Friday
and Saturday) at his place of business located at 9995 East Tamiami Trail, Section 20, Township
50, Range 26. The Land Devclopment Code allows the Board of County Commissioners
(Board) to approve Temporary Usc Permits in excess of the twenty eight day limit up to four
weeks in duration.
FISCAL IMPACT: The fee for a Temporary Use pemlit is two hundred dollars and one pemlit
is required for each weekend. As noted above, the applicant is requesting to pay a one time fee of
two hundred dollars, for what would equate to an ongoing Tcmporary Use Permit, valid until the
approval time for the permit as granted by the Board expires.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: This action has no impact on growth management.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is ready for Board consideration and approval. It is
quasi-judicial and requires ex paJie disclosures. A majority vote of the Board is necessary for
Board action.--HFAC
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board grant the applicant's rcquest to approve a Temporary
Use Permit in accordance with the provisions of the Land Development Code for seven
consecutive weekends (Friday and Saturday), for the calendar year 2009, at 9995 East Tamiami
Trail, Section 20, Township 50, Range 26, and to waive any fees to be paid by the applicant
beyond the one time two hundred dollar fee to encompass the entire requested length of time.
