A RESOLUTION TO PROHIBIT TRUCKS AND OTHER COMMERCIAL
VEHICLES HAVING A RATED LOAD-CARRYING CAPACITY IN EXCESS
OF FIVE (5) TONS FROM OPERATING IN THE LEFT LANE, EXCEPT
WHEN PASSING OR PREPARING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, ON:
IMMOKALEE ROAD FROM AIRPORT-PULLING ROAD TO COLLIER
BOULEVARD; ON GOLDEN GATE BOULEVARD FROM COLLIER
BOULEVARD TO WILSON BOULEVARD; AND ON COLLIER BOULEVARD
FROM GOLDEN GATE BOULEVARD TO US 41.
WHEREAS, Section 316.555, Florida Statutes, permits the Board of County Commissioners
to regulate or prohibit any classification or kind of traffic found to be incompatible with the normal
and safe movements of traffic on roads and streets under its jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, Section 130-3 of the Collier County Code of Laws and Ordinances (also cited
as Collier County Ordinance No. 83-35, as amended,) authorizes the county administrator to
determine those roads on which trucks in excess of five (5) ton capacity and other commercial
vehicles be prohibited from operating in the left lane, except when passing or preparing to turn left,
and to post notice of such prohibition upon approval of the Board; and
WHEREAS, the multi-lane roadway sections of Immokalee Road from Airport-Pulling Road
to Collier Boulevard, Golden Gate Boulevard from Collier Boulevard to Wilson Boulevard, and
administrator as to being roadways for such prohibition; and
Collier Boulevard from Golden Gate Boulevard to US 41 have been so determined by the county
WHEREAS, the Board has determined that it will be in the best interest and benefit of the
citizens of COllier County to prohibit trucks in excess of five (5) ton capacity and other commercial
vehicles from operating in the Jeft lane, except when passing or preparing to turn left, on the
mentioned roadways;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that trucks in excess of five (5) ton capacity and other
the left lane on: Immokalee Road from Airport-Pulling Road to Collier Boulevard; Golden Gate
commercial vehicles, except when passing or preparing to turn left, are prohibited from operating in
Boulevard from Collier Boulevard to Wilson Boulevard; and Collier Boulevard from Golden Gate
Boulevard to US 41.
Transportation Services Division to erect proper signage to advise motorists of the prohibition in
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that authorization is hereby given to the Collier County
accordance with Chapter 316, Section 316.555, Florida Statutes.
County Sheriff's Office for enforcement of the prohibition established herein.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution shall be tendered to the Collier

September 1 , 2003.
