WHEREAS, it serves as a networking resource for pet owners and other area pet rescues, as well as promoting responsible pet ownership and pet education whl'le working to reduce pet population by sterl1izing morc than 2,000 pets each year: and. WHEREAS, the Humane Society helps Jow-income pet owners by providing their pets with low-cost veterinary ca~, and thoroughly enjoys and appreciates the support of the more than 300 volunteers: and. WHEREAS, the Humane Society is building a 6,000 square foot addition and renovating their current 6,000 square foot facility where they plan to ultimately house approximately 80 cats and 40 dogs,' and. WHEREAS, this new facility will not only increase the organizatkm ',s capacity to house surrendered pets, but will enable the Humane Society Naples to welcome more pets and people into a comfortable and appealing environment, thus increasing adoptions: and, WHEREAS, the Humane Society is planning a groundbreaki"ng ceremony for February 26, 2009. NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florido, that The Humane Society Naples be recognized for their contribution to Collier County residefTfs and their pets and with the organization contintJca success in providing these wonderful services to our community.
