A RESOLUTION BY THE COLLIER COUNTY BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PROVIDING NOTICE OF
INTENT TO EXTEND THE ADDITIONAL FIVE CENTS,
SIX CENTS AND NINTH CENT FUEL TAXES PURSUANT
TO FLORIDA STATUTES, SECTIONS 336.025 (1)(a) AND (b)
AND 336.021 UP TO THE YEAR 2025, AND PROVIDING
FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO STAFF TO PREPARE THE
APPROPRIATE ORDINANCES.
WHEREAS, Florida Statutes, Section 336.025 (l)(a) and (b) authorized the County to
levy an additional Five Cents and Six Cents in local option fuel taxes by ordinance adopted by
the membership of the governing body of the County; and
WHEREAS, Florida Statutes, Section 336.021 Florida Statutes, authorized the County to
levy an additional Ninth Cent in local option fuel taxes by ordinance adopted by a majority plus
one vote of the membership of the governing body of the County or by referendum; and
WHEREAS, Collier County had previously adopted ordinances levying and extending
the additional Five Cents and Six Cents fuel tax; and
WHEREAS, Collier County voters had previously approved, by referendum, the levy of
the Ninth Cent fuel tax; and
WHEREAS, the additional Five Cents, Six Cents and Ninth Cent fuel taxes may be
extended; and
WHEREAS, Collier County intends to extend the levy of the additional Five Cents, Six
Cents and Ninth Cent fuel taxes by ordinances adopted by a majority plus one vote of the
membership of the governing body of the County where needed to the year 2025.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA that:
It is the intent of this Board to extend the imposition of the additional Five Cents, Six Cents and
Ninth Cent fuel taxes up to and including year 2025 or until terminated, changed or amended by
the Board of County Commissioners; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that:
Collier County staff is instructed to prepare the necessary ordinance or ordinances for the
extensions of the additional Five Cents, Six Cents and Ninth Cent fuel taxes for presentation to
the Board of County Commissioners at the next available regularly scheduled Board meeting
after duly noticing and advertising the proposed ordinance(s).
