Backup Documents 04/09/2019 Item # 4C C PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the Collier County Sheriff's Office 9-1-1 Telecommunicators are the first responders providing the vital link between the citizens of Collier County and emergency responders; and, WHEREAS, they are the caring, calming voice sending help to those in need during times of distress, determinedly providing vital pre-arrival instructions until help arrives; and, WHEREAS, in 2018, they answered 130,950 9-1-1 calls and texts as well as 352,553 non-emergency calls, and monitored more than 15,619,753 radio transmissions; and, WHEREAS, the Radio Telecommunicators are vital to ensuring the timely dispatch of calls for service and the safety of responders by relaying critical information while accurately tracking activity; and, WHEREAS, they had a direct impact on saving the lives of Collier County residents, with one Stork award for guiding a caller through the birth of a child outside of a hospital setting, eight Life Save awards and six Phoenix awards for guiding callers through CPR successfully leading to the survival of those patients; and, WHEREAS, the 77 Telecommunicators are truly dedicated to the citizens of Collier County and its first responders and work tirelessly to ensure that every caller receives expeditious, caring help. NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that April 14-20, 2019, be designated as NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK IN COLLIER COUNTY DONE AND ORDERED THIS 9th Day of April 2019.
