Agenda 03/26/2019 Item #16K 216. K.2 03/26/2019 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to appoint three members to the Pelican Bay Services Division Board. OBJECTIVE: To appoint three members to the Pelican Bay Services Division Board, to terms expiring on March 31, 2023. CONSIDERATIONS: Collier County Ordinance No. 2002-27, as amended, created the Pelican Bay Municipal Service Taxing and Benefit Unit (Unit) and established the Pelican Bay Municipal Service Taxing and Benefit Unit Advisory Committee (known as the Pelican Bay Services Division Board). The Pelican Bay Services Division Board consists of nine members representing the residential interests within the Unit and two members representing the commercial and business interests within the Unit. With the assistance of the County Manager, the Pelican Bay Services Division Board provides input to the Board of County Commissioners in carrying out the purposes of the Unit as set forth in the Ordinance. Terms are four years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup. The terms for Peter Griffith (resident), Michael Shepard (resident), and Bodhan Paul Himiak (resident), will expire on March 31, 2019. A press release was issued, and applications were received from interested citizens. Pursuant to Ordinance No. 2002-27, as amended, the Board of County Commissioners set the mail -in balloting date (March 1, 2019) in order for residents of the Unit to select three members to the Pelican Bay Services Division Board representing residential interests. The nominees receiving a plurality of the ballots are deemed the successful nominees and their names are forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners. The Board of County Commissioners, at a regularly scheduled meeting, then makes the necessary appointments to fill the vacant positions. BALLOT RESULTS FROM CLERK: Of the 6,852 ballots mailed, 1670 were returned by the balloting date. The mail -in ballots were counted on March 13, 2019 in the Clerk of Courts Conference Room, and the results are listed below.
