EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve the document necessary to convey an easement to Florida Power &
Light Company over property owned by the Collier County Water-Sewer District at 512 103rd Ave.
N., Naples, FL 34108 for installation of electric infrastructure required to power a new pump
station.
OBJECTIVE: To convey an easement for installation of electric infrastructure on Collier County Water-
Sewer District property required to power a new pump station. The public purpose is to bring utilit y
infrastructure into compliance with current County standards while meeting demand, improving
reliability, protecting public safety and providing environmental protection.
CONSIDERATIONS: On September 11, 2012, under Agenda Item 11.E., the Board of County
Commissioners (Board) approved Contract Number 11-5782 for designing wastewater infrastructure
improvements for the Wastewater Basin Program. The renovation of Pump Station 101.07 is one of
many projects designed as part of the Wastewater Basin Progr am. The existing site for Pump Station
101.07 is undersized and located next to a Vanderbilt Lagoon canal. The property for the new Pump
Station 101.07 was purchased by the Collier County Water-Sewer District, pursuant to Board action on
May 10, 2016, under Agenda Item 16.E.6.
The project includes the installation of a new electric line and transformer to provide power to the pump
station. An easement to Florida Power & Light Company (FP&L) for the installation of electric lines and
fiber, including, but not limited to, conduit, poles, and transformer box, is required. The easement area
measures approximately 400 square feet and is shown and described on Exhibit “A” to the Easement.
The County will not be compensated because the easement is a requir ement for FP&L to provide the
electrical facilities necessary for the operation of the pump station.
FISCAL IMPACT: The total cost for recording the Easement will not exceed $18.50. Funds in the
amount of $18.50 are available in the Wastewater User Fee Fund (414).
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There are no Growth Management Impacts associated with
this action.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been approved for form and legality and requires a
majority vote for approval. ---- JAB
RECOMMENDATION: To approve the Easement, authorize the Chairman to execute the Easement,
and direct the County Manager or his designee to follow all appropriate closing procedures and record the
Easement in the Public Records of Collier County, Florida.
