RESOLUTION NO. 2005 -180
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY,
FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR THE IMPOSITION AND COLLECTION OF A lOCAL OPTION FEE
FOR PROVISION OF ENHANCED EMERGENCY "911" TELEPHONE SERVICE AND
EQUIPMENT
WHEREAS, Section 365.171(13), Florida Statutes, provides that a county may impose a fee
for charges for "911" seNice and equipment to be paid by local exchange subscribers on an
individual exchange basis at a rate not to exceed fifty cents ($.50) per month per access line; and
WHEREAS, The Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, deems it
appropriate and in furtherance of public health, safety and welfare to access a fee for the enhanced
"911" telephone seNice availability in Collier County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
1. Pursuant to Section 365.171(13), Florida Statutes, there is hereby imposed against local
exchange subscribers a local option fee for the provision of enhance "911 " emergency telephone
seNice and equipment in Collier County. This fee shall be adjusted annually to cover allowable
expenses as described in Section 365.171(13(a)(6), Florida Statutes. For the period of September
30, 2005 through September 30, 2006, the fee will be $ .50 cents per month per subscriber per
access line.
2. The County requests that the telephone company (exchange telephone seNice provider)
providing enhanced "911" seNice and equipment to Collier County collect from its subscribers within
Collier County, the local option fee assessed by this Resolution and remit those fees to Collier
County.
3. Said telephone company, pursuant to Section 365.171 (13)(c), Florida Statutes, may retain as an
administrative fee an amount of one percent (1 %) of the total "911" fees actually collected by said
telephone company.
4. Money in reseNe is being carried forward to provide for capital improvements listed in Section
365.171 (13)(a)(3), Florida Statutes. Additional money from fiscal year 2005 revenues to be added to
the total reseNes shall not exceed ten percent (10%) of such fees billed for the 2004 fiscal year. The
cumulative reseNes are to pay for projected expansion and replacement of E911 equipment and
seNice features described in Section 365.171 (a)(1 3)(6), Florida Statutes. All carry forward reseNes
shall be administered in accordance with Subsection 365.171(13), Florida Statutes.
