Agenda 01/22/2019 Item #16K201/22/2019 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to appoint three members to the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee. OBJECTIVE: To appoint three members to the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, expiring on October 1, 2021. CONSIDERATIONS: This committee was created by Ordinance No. 91-65, as amended, which was repealed and replaced by Ordinance No. 2013-27. The purpose of this 11-member committee as required and described by 420.9076 Fla. Stat. is to review policies, procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, and the adopted local government comprehensive plan, and to recommend specific actions or initiatives to encourage or facilitate affordable housing. The committee is required to submit a triennial report to the Board of County Commissioners that includes recommendations on, and evaluates the implementation of, affordable housing incentives as required by 420.9076(4) Fla. Stat. A list of the current membership is included in the backup. Terms are three years, and membership must consist of the following: (a) One citizen who is actively engaged in the residential home building industry in connection with affordable housing. (b) One citizen who is actively engaged in the banking or mortgage banking industry in connection with affordable housing. (c) One citizen who is a representative of those areas of labor actively engaged in home building in connection with affordable housing. (d) One citizen who is actively engaged as an advocate for low-income persons in connection with affordable housing. (e) One citizen who is actively engaged as a for-profit provider of affordable housing. (f) One citizen who is actively engaged as a not-for-profit provider of affordable housing. (g) One citizen who is actively engaged as a real estate professional in con nection with affordable housing. (h) One citizen who actively serves on the local planning agency pursuant to s. 163.3174. (i) One citizen who resides within the jurisdiction of the local governing body making the appointments. (j) One citizen who represents employers within the jurisdiction. (k) One citizen who represents essential services personnel. There are three current vacancies on this committee under these categories: (b) Banking and Mortgage, (c) Labor Engaged in Home Building, and (e) For-Profit Housing Provider. An additional vacancy exists in category (h) Collier County Planning Commission, but no qualified applications were submitted.
