RESOLUTION NO. 2005- 23
A RESOLUTION BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, COLLIER COUNTY,
FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING A SPEED LIMIT REDUCTION ON COLLIER BOULEVARD
(CR 951) FROM THE CURRENT SPEED LIMIT OF FIFTY-FIVE MILES PER HOUR (55
MPH) TO FORTY-FIVE MILES PER HOUR (45 MPH) FROM DAVIS BOULEVARD TO
CEDAR HAMMOCK BOULEVARD.
WHEREAS, Chapter 316, Florida Statutes, permits the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) to alter
established speed limits on roads under its jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, Collier Boulevard (CR 951) falls under the jurisdiction of the BCC and presently has a
fifty-five miles per hour (55 MPH) speed limit; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 316, Florida Statutes, the BCC may alter such existing speed
limits as may be appropriate upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation; and
WHEREAS, the results of the County's engineering and traffic investigations indicate that changing the
current speed limit on Collier Boulevard to forty-five miles per hour (45 MPH) from Davis Boulevard to Cedar
Hammock Boulevard is reasonable and safer under the conditions found to exist and that it conforms to criteria
promulgated by the County and the Florida Department of Transportation (FOOT).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, THAT:
SECTION 1: The BCC does hereby establish a forty-five miles per hour (45 MPH) speed limit on Collier
Boulevard (CR 951) from Davis Boulevard to Cedar Hammock Boulevard, a distance of approximately 0.8
miles, and directs the County Traffic Operations Department to erect appropriate speed limit signs along this
segment of Collier Boulevard giving notice of this change.
SECTION 2: A copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded to the Collier County Sheriff's Office for proper
enforcement of the established speed limits for Collier Boulevard within the designated segments.
SECTION 3: The effective date of the speed limit reduction shall be after written notification to the Sheriff's
Office and upon the posting of appropriate signage.
This Resolution adopted after motion, second, and majority vote favoring same this 11th day of
January
