EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
PRESENTATION OF THE POSTHUMOUS ADVISORY COMMITTEE OUTSTANDING
MEMBER AWARD FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER, 2009 TO CHARLIE ABBOTT
OBJECTIVE: To recognize and reward an advisory committee member posthumously for his
outstanding and dedicated service to Collier County.
CONSIDERATIONS: On September 21,2004, the Board of County Commissioners adopted
Resolution No. 2004-280 to recognize and reward outstanding Advisory Committee members for
their significant contributions to the organization and/or community. The respective committees
nominate the outstanding Advisory Committee members and the Awards Committee (same
committee that currently selects the Employee of the Month) evaluates and selects volunteers
from the nomination forms. The objective of this program is to recognize significant
contributions to the organization and/or community by members of the many advisory boards
and committees formed to assist the Board of County Commissioners in carrying out their
elected duties.
AWARD COMMITTEE RECOMMENDA nON:
Charlie Abbott
Development Services Advisory Committee
To be accepted by Mrs. Linda Abbott.
Charlie always followed what he thought was the best understanding of the ordinance. He had
an excellent attendance record and he never worried about stating his mind when it came to
government. He was involved in budgeting sub-committees, LDC Sub-committees and software
company presentations. Charlie was involved in the selection of the Hanson software system
that turned into City View which has just started its implementation at CDES and, unfortunately,
Charlie will never see its full effect.
FISCAL IMPACT; NONE
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: NONE
RECOMMENDA nON: That the Board of County Commissioners present the posthumous
Outstanding Advisory Committee Volunteer Award for November 2009, to Charlie Abbott for
his work on the Development Services Advisory Committee.
