PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the Collier County Recycling Ordinance Number 2009-56, established the Waste
Reduction Awards Program (the WRAP award); and,
WHEREAS, the WRAP award recognizes businesses, institutions, and multi-family residences for
enhanced and innovative recycling programs; and,
WHEREAS, Lucky's Market contributes to the greater good of Collier County by advocating the
"Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" message, thereby helping to prolong the usable life of the
Collier County Landfill; and,
WHEREAS, Lucky's Market recycling, reuse and source reduction program includes:
• Online training for all team members for proper usage and disposal of products and
waste.
• Using a three-bin system to manage waste: one for trash, one for food waste, and one
for mixed recyclables.
• Donating more than 1,900 pounds of perishable and non-perishable food each week to
Harry Chapin, Food Angels, and St. Mathews House.
• Diverting food waste from the bakery and produce by using them in creative recipes
throughout the store.
• Breaking recycling all cardboard boxes, pallets, grease, and meat trimmings.
• Not offering plastic bags at the checkout, rather encouraging the use of reusable bags
through a Community Impact Bags for Change program. This gives customers 10 cents
off their purchase for every bag used, or they can donate that reward to a local
nonprofit.
WHEREAS, the WRAP award program includes a plaque and space on the county's website
showcasing eco-friendly business practices and recycling programs; and,
WHEREAS, the Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Division congratulates Lucky's Market
Store Director Bobby Ditmar, and Assistant Store Director Tenn Faustini.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that we congratulate
