PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the Big Cypress Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American
Revolution (DAR) has dedicated themselves to the national society
objectives of historical preservation, the promotion of education, and
the encouragement of patriotic endeavors; and,
WHEREAS, the Chapter actively participates in the work of the Collier County
Veterans Council and Collier County Honor Flights, as well as giving
recognition and support to the men and women in the Armed Forces for
their service and sacrifice for the nation; and,
WHEREAS, the Chapter encourages the development of our youth by awarding
scholarships to graduating high school seniors, giving recognition to
outstanding JROTC cadets, and promoting the study of American
History in middle schools; and,
WHEREAS, the Chapter participates in local Naturalization Ceremonies and
welcomes the new American citizens with gifts to foster true
patriotism and love of country; and,
WHEREAS, the Chapter strives to preserve the historic landmarks of the
community, as well as giving to efforts in restoring the historic natural
resources of Collier County and Florida; and,
WHEREAS, the Daughters of the American Revolution goals are as relevant in
today's society as they were when the DAR was founded in 1890; and,
WHEREAS, the Big Cypress Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the
American Revolution was founded fifty years ago on November 15,
1968, in Naples, Florida.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, that the Big Cypress Chapter, National Society Daughters of the
American Revolution is recognized and congratulated for fifty years of service to the
Collier County community.
